Catapult would be hard to beat. if they've implemented the physics correctly, jumping straight up and launching LRMs and then dropping back down behind a hill is very effective for an arty support type mech

you can make LRM variants of almost anything, i had an all LRM Zeus that worked really well, but just for base mechs I think the Catapult is hard to beat

If I was going for dedicated fire support I'd take a modified STK-3F Stalker. 4 MLas, 4 LRM-15 (6 tons ammo = 12 salvos of 60 missiles in yo face), Endo Steel, 19 heat sinks. CASE in both side torsos (ammo split between them).

Gotta ride your heat curve for shooting your LRMs, but if an enemy closes with you, you should be able to let loose with the MLas all day long.

Of course, if you want to get *really* fancy...

You can pull out the engine for an XL, and upgrade it to a 4/6, you have to move one ton of LRM out of each of the Side Torsos (I suggest moving them to a leg, honestly. Assault legs are incredibly beefy, and the thing is already absurdly easy to hit). The thing is there's enough free space to add a bunch of electronics even after you max out the armour, so toss on a C3 Slave, BAP, and GECM. I leave the CASE there even though I'm using an XL engine to mitigate repair costs (assumption), and I *still* have a half ton left over and nothing to do with it. If I could take a half-ton of LRM ammo....

EDIT: Forgot, the fancy version cuts all added heatsinks in echange for doubles.

Your missile boat won't be as effective if it can't get into position to lob the LRMs. I would say it is situational depending on the team strategy and mechs. If we are talking pub games then probably a Catapult or a Treb since you can follow your group easily. Atlas and Stalker are okay but don't expect to have 100% uptime if the field is full of mediums and lights.

I would have to say the Stalker. Although it's not as LRM specialized in it's stock configuration, it seems like it would be fairly easy to drop some lasers and/or SRMs and put larger LRM racks, or more, or both. Even if you increase the engine size to increase speed to 4/6, you still have a few more tons of weapon space free than the Catapult.

What's the max range of LRMs again 630m?

So nice to have a 54 km/h mech with 4x LRM-20 but you actually have to get to the enemy unless you are purely defending. But then the enemy comes to you and I think minimum range was 180m?

So I vote for the catapult because of it's maneuverability.

Yeoman. That thing screams nothing but LRM. It's not the best though.

probably could, but it is also an assault mech, so the comparison may not be fair.

'best' is too hard to define. Most damage? Most missile hardpoints? Mobility, armor, jump, cockpit hitbox, lots of variables and there is no 'best'. Real question is, which is your favorite?

I can't wait to pilot a Stalker

i remember back when we played MW4, I'd fill a Catapult with LRMs, run, hide behind something, and shut down. when my friends tell me they have engaged the enemy, i turn on, jump, aim, and dump. packs quite a punch, but useless in a long fight or against smaller, faster enemies. good for trolling though.

I think the Longbow as well. I've played the Trebuchet and Catapult in MPBT 3025 which seemed true to TT hardpoints but I'm not an expert. I remember playing the Longbow in MW4 and I seem to recall in its default config it was really a missile boat. Out of them all I preferred a Catapult.

i'm not sure how the matchmaker will put teams together but in case your 12 player side gets like 3 assault mechs, why should you want one as a LRM plattform? they are assault mechs, build do crush through enemy lines while they sustain the fire. this way the best LRM support mech would be one thats not so heavy but can still fire enough missiles with one volley.
trebuchet or catapult will do the job, the stalker is to heavy and way better dealing direct damage instead of sitting somewhere and giving fire support via indirect missiles.
