This is a problem on many Mech variants. You can sometimes solve it by stuffing some filler small lasers into the default slots, then put your actual weapons in next. In this example, the CDA-3F, that means that you either have to ditch your jump jets, ditch your optimal XL300 engine, or skimp on armor. Why would the best mounts (empty black dots above the mounted PPCs) be reserved for the second set of weapons loaded?

to stop your mech from topping over most heavy weapons are mounted low.

Because having weapons in high mounts is good, and anything that's good in this game gets punished hard :(

Honestly bumping some weapons up globally (like gauss on the Cyclops, for example) on chassis into existing hrardpoint locations would make them more competitive but there is a divide between the comp crowd that wants more competitve robots that can kill extremely efficiently and the players that would rather see more low slung mount mechs that have to expose and brawl to make use of their hardpoints and higher ttk

That said, I don't mind taking a smaller engine on that cicada-- I use 2 flamers to bump the PPCs into the high mounts. They are actually really strong defensive weapons against, say, a cheetah, which already cooks itself from its lack of full truedub engine heat sinks and has to boat energy, and should you find yourself in the thick of a brawl between the two teams you can lock multiple targets to high heat while still using your armor

Never underestimate a flamer in pub queue. Once got cornered by a Warhawk and Atlas in my Adder. Shut both of them down and ran like hell with my single flamer. The flame life is a good one to live.

You're asking the wrong question. The right question is "Why not have individually fillable hardpoints?"

The answer is that's where the weapons were in canon artwork.

Phoenix hawk's forced double pistol garbage instead of the CANONICAL vambrace placement of the Medium lasers says otherwise.

NOMNOMNOM. LOL.

For the record, PGI did say once that they wanted to do this. But, like wiping out the human race, it's a great idea, more of a long-term thing...

This.
The primary weapon location is based on the art.

Why isn't this the case with the Poor Hawk though?
Its arm-mounts look completely random.

Even in stock loadouts, they're out of place. (Like having a double pistol, when it should have one laser in the vambrace and the other - handheld).

I humbly request that in the case of arm mounted weapons. You please not mount them under slung. Please! I would love to see them on top, but I understand it wouldn't fit right, so at at least more side mounted stuff. Please! I feel like I'm dragging my lasers across the floor when I fire them on uneven maps! D:

Yes, we know it's not fun to shoot at dirt instead of your enemies.

...yeah, no idea what they were doing with that one, I'll check on it though.

What kind of moron designed the UI so you couldn't place the weapons in whatever order you wanted? Why would you make the PPC drop to the lower spot after removing the filter? THAT TOOK EXTRA CODE!
