I agree, it seems there is always that crowd that will cry paywall, or power creep to any additional variants. And imo best addition for new varriants bring in new loadout options which by thier definition do start adding something to the chassis. Expecially in the case of Omnimechs and new pods. It doesn't matter to some if it's different and behind a pay wall at first it will bring tears of the "pay to win" mentality (which btw, has PGI every released a mech or new.varriant for free right off the bat besides when the game first came out?).

But imo the mentality of don't add it cause it would be op or invalidate another mech currently is annoying. They can always balance these options to have draw backs if broken up the omipod set ect.

PGI's general practice has been to make the pay-wall units on par or slightly worse than "free" units, with a few exceptions, most infamously, during the Poptart era, the Dragon-slayer was the best Victor.

Being fair, the Dragon Slayer was not intended to be the best Victor. It only turned out that way by chance, as I get the feeling Piranha hadn't yet quite gotten their heads around how big a deal convergence was. And frankly, while it did outperform other Victors, the other Victors were still quite serviceable in those days.

I miss those Victors-being-serviceable days...

Speaking of Victory how does it 10L fit your fancy >.> ECM varriant? (Although it has stealth armor, maybe we get it or just refit with standard armor...)

If the 10L comes in without stealth armor I will be mad upset. I'm deliriously hopeful that the tech bump incoming in summer comes with new armor types, stealth armor being one of them.

Beyond that it's a fairly typical Victor design. Good candidate for a RetroBooster pack since it debuts three new tech systems (stealth armor, and also iERMLs and iSSRM-6), but without its stealth armor it'd be kind of boring. And I have no idea how Piranha would implement stealth armor if it did come in so...hey.

Oddly enough, Stealth Armour works in a some what intteresting way... It's harder to hit a unit with it, think lag shields... (+3 to hit at Medium range, +6 at long range...) It also requires an ECM unit be installed as well...

I would be more interested in NullSig... but NullSig would work like the current implantation of ECM, you cannot target the unit out side of a set number of Hexes...

Hmmm, that MLX looks interesting. However, the only Omnipod I can think of that would save the MLX would be an RT with at least one energy hardpoint, preferably two.

I donno. That's a lot of firepower, plus an ECM to mitigate the speed issues of the mech. The caveat, though, is that with Clan mechs, especially lights, having more than 6 energy is almost wasted. Runs too hot to use effectively, and unlike the IS, we cannot mix ER and Pulse lasers to bypass ghost heat limitations. It wouldn't suddenly make the mech good, since the arms would still be gigantic and the mech would still be way too slow for its weight, but at least it could throw a punch?

Mist lynx with a boat load of heavy lasers would be pretty interesting. Fire one alpha, get to 200% heat and die.

Alternatively lower amount of lasers down a little so you only get to 100% heat with a huge alpha and just pop up occasionally to fire.

This is the one I want, even if it doesn't get the array (arrays don't really make sense in context of MWO). The ability to run 4 cSPLs (in the torsos instead of the arms) and 8 MGs sounds wonderful.

What about the Victor-9A? They already have the files in the game... that sweet sweet left torso Ballistic... would barely make an impact, but still!

You wouldn't be able to run that ERPPC there and a Gauss unless we get LFEs.

The ballistic is in the left torso, so it will fit.
