It's sad that its quirks don't encourage people to use more mixed builds.

They've sometimes given MG RoF quirks to mechs that wouldn't normally equip MGs.
Other than that... not really. Can't really think of any situations where people run mixed builds based on quirks rather than hardpoints.

Actually Bushie kinda HAS to run a mixed build to bring the best it can offer
Sure 2 LbX10 + ML is a consistent and great performer, however I use this to even greater effect:
2 AC5, 2 MG, 1 SL, 3 SRM2, that's a shitton of dps and runs rather cool. It is also adequate at long range
Had multiple ~1k games in it

Mixed? As in 3 SRM 6's with artie, 4 mg's and a flamer?

I do love me a good woodland pattern. Need more colours and more decals though.

On Some mechs....but mostly bad mechs.
They seem to encourage mixed builds with quirks on mechs that are only viable with mixed builds in the first place (Zeus being the example that pops into mind). And even on bad mechs they often nerf their "OP" quirks unnecessarily, thus pushing them back toward a more traditional meta-ish single weapon boating role. (e.g. minimizing the Arrow's MG quirks, virtually guarantees folks will play it without MGs and just stick with 3LPL, etc.). That plus the community often gets vocal in regards to mechs being quirked for weapons that are deemed to be secondary at the "expense" of their primary weapons.
All around it is a lose-lose situation that pushes folks away from those "bad" mechs (mechs with a variety of different hard points) to mechs that focus more on single weapon type hardpoints (even if the later is devoid of quirks). And now all this is being exacerbated by PGI's recent emphasis on new mechs of all weights that have far more single weapons hardpoint variants than ever before (and of course driving sales). It will be made even worse still with the new squirks system which will undoubtedly have steep cost for quirking for more than one weapons system.
So yes there are mechs that have quirks to encourage mixed load-outs, but between mechs having 8 single system hardpoints, and PGI's utterly bewildering nerf passes (of late) and the game mechanics, I fear they will continue to be a rarity if not made outright unplayable/extinct.
