Wait what? Dual gauss with no range module will do 19 damage at 900 meters, which is more than "AC2 tier" damage.

Yeah, I did the math wrong, putting max range at about 1000m instead of its 1360 meters.

Working as intended. PGI went twitchy/CoD/e-sports with this game, instead of Mechwarrior/strategy/simulator, so this is what you get. Quickplay arena deathmatch. No thanks. Ok, back to Arma 3.

This game isn't twitchy nor is it anything like CoD. Put the pipe down.

I've done a couple of these recently as I was switching mechs often and/or trying new weapon groups, forgetting that my 3 was now SRMs instead of PPCs. I feel bad about that and apologize when I notice it hit someone.

But for the love of whatever crappy imaginary skywizard you worship, if you step in front of my assault when I'm about to alpha you deserve it.

The root vegetables have been out in force recently. It has been so bad recently I'm seriously considering shifting more armour to the back as I'm getting shot in the back leaving me with yellow internals

Just did the math, each gauss would put out about 5.45 damage at 900m. Its something, though I wouldn't be firing shots at that range unless I was packing like 5 tons per rifle.

That's over 10pts. per shot. If I have a lock and I see a raw component, or if they're limping or I see smoke coming off them, I'll go to work. I'll also try to make my way in closer, if possible.

I don't necessarily have a problem with potatoes in QP, because as someone above mentioned: Sometimes you just wanna chill out with a beer and shoot some stuff in a giant mechanical walking battle tank. However... It's when they start to spread over to FW and start spuuding around in there that I have a problem. Some of us are legitimately trying to go the long yards and grind our way through gruesome matches against the Clans, and it's frustrating as hell when you get a team that want's to spend the next 25mins not doing anything productive, not bothering to listen to orders or recommendations, and just failing at being a team player in general.

Please, if you want to be a potato then fine, but do it over on QP. Stay out of FW and leave the dedicated players alone. FW is reserved for people who want to engage in proper co-ordinated teamwork.

Edit: Pointless to make this post as the potatoes probably won't read it. It's more just a rant I guess... :(

In MWO we have no idea (unless we know/recognise the pilot name) what tier or how experienced our teammates or enemies are... I wish we did know (so that people could help out the newer players and the unfortunate pilots that drop in higher tier matches than what they are)... TBH I don't consider potato calling as particularly offensive (especially for an online game)...

Be careful what you wish for. In other games - ones full of hyper-competitive sociopaths - systems that show a person's skill level in game just results in the thugs team-killing the "lesser" or new players, or at least spamming insulting idiocy at them all match. Sadly, many people are far too immature to even properly shoot pixels on a screen in the company of other people without behaving like a total arse-hat.

Twitchy is a relative term. Compared to CoD, it's not. Compared to, say, World of Warships, it is. Compared to its own past, with lower alphas and higher time to kill, it is certainly more "twitchy" than it was.

It's catered to the same players. You get 12 v 12 matches with almost instant action, kill, die, then are in another match in under a minute, kill, die, next match, kill, die...... It's a rinse/repeat formula trying to get adhd kids on board. Of course it's a different game than CoD, but the formula and target audience is the same. PGI took a gamble by going the e-sports rout instead of building the game that Mechwarrior fans funded, and now it's biting them in the ***, so now they're trying to reach back out to us. You know things are bad at PGI when you see the community manager on the forums, they're desperate. OK, back to Arma 3.

This thread is making me hungry.

But remember, we all start somewhere.

A Potato, once peeled and prepared, becomes a chip, (or chup for new zealand, fries for USA) and once you add meta cheese, suddenly that dirty potato is something more.

Not always. Sometimes some guy out of position refuses to press R and doesn't use comms. He dies a slow death without anyone coming back to help.

Nonono. All we need to do is put more bacon on the potatoes, because
