So, what was the best/most memorable shot you ever made in MWO? For me, it was killing a Cicada mid-air with dual Gauss rifles mounted on my Dire Wolf. I mean, you know how a mech goes limp when you kill it, turning from a fearsome war machine to a useless pile of junk? That's exactly what happened: a Cicada flew up in the air, and moments later its dead body plummeted back down to the ground. It was just beautiful, I wish I recorded that match on video. And what about your best shot?

Kill shot on a mech I couldn't even see, positioned within a mass of friendlies in a frenzy to finish it off, from a jumping Quickdraw IV-4 with an AC10 on Tourmaline. It was the first time I'd ever been accused of cheating. I wish I could have actually seen the shot land though. I was told it was "literally unbelievable".

I remember one time rather recently I came around the corner in my Cataphract on Frozen City to find myself face to face with a Marauder IIC. I fired my AC/20 and it hit him right in the cockpit out of sheer luck. His cockpit went cherry red, then I finished him by raking my medium lasers over his cockpit. The entire altercation lasted about two seconds. He was otherwise completely fresh too. He got so mad and spent the rest of the game accusing me of aimbotting. It was pretty funny. Most memorable kill I've ever made.

Crimson Strait, CW Skirmish. Our team decided to play poke in the saddle. It's been going on for quite a while so I gave a suggestion to the team to have a few guys come with me to the tunnels and attack them from the side. They pretty much ignored me and one guy told me to get a mic before giving out orders. So being the Shiroi Cookie that I am, I decided to go alone with my Double Gauss Jager (with 20 rear armor) and managed to assassinate a Shadowcat that just respawned. I ended up getting intercepted by a lone Thor and brawled. He managed to get my ST and RT open, but he overheated. As I was about to release the trigger on his CT, my mind decided to go for the headshot on a split second and landed my alpha there.

I know it's nothing special compared to the others, but to me, this shot is so memorable because this a moment where I didn't follow the natural instinct and muscle memory of shooting enemies in the CT. Instead, I went for gold and took the risk. Ever since that shot, I've been actively aiming for headshots whenever the chance arises.

I guess there's that time a few years ago when my Gauss 20 Jager landed a headshot on a Firestarter in OG Therma, but it's not really note worthy compared to the Crimson headshot imho

Tie: First gauss from my Grid Iron legged a Locust that was about to run underneath center in HPG Manifold, second one killed it through the back armor.

Old frozen city map. Played a dual AC20 Jager with range quirks. After 30 seconds of the match we were in nascar mode. The other team was about 350m also nascaring, I fired randomly, while moving , 2 shots at the enemy team and managed to kill a Shadowcat. It was like I won a lottery! Poor guy must have been skimping on head armour.

Since then every AC20 shot feels like a lottery ticket :D

I don't know how, but I loosed a dual GR shot into a target (with another standing behind him) and saw 2 kills come up on the left of the HUD almost instantly. Somehow I killed two mechs with a single pull of the trigger with precision weapons. I don't know if this even happens in MWO, but it seems like my round punched through the head of Mech 1 and killed Mech 2.

I don't claim to know how, I just saw the results and it's stuck with me forever.

Had a few games in my PPC Shadow Cat where it maybe wasn't one spectacular shot, but a string of crazy accuracy to close out a match.

One game on Alpine, it was 2v3. Had a savagely abused heavy on the team dueling an enemy Marauder, I was redlining my MASC to get there and try to save my teammate. Didn't quite make it, but jump sniped the Marauder just after he got my guy. Ended up taking on the last two enemies, which were a fresh ERLL Cicada 3F(L) and something bigger. I just methodically killed the bigger target, maximizing cover while making sure the Cicada wasn't able to flank me (I had fresh frontal armor but cherry red internal CT after a Jenner flyby in the opening stages of the match!). After several minutes of jumping, MASC-moonwalking, torso twisting, circling each other, etc. I took the last mech down and was able to breathe again. A few teammates were like "You realize you didn't miss a single shot during the last 3-4 minutes of the match..."

And had another game on Polar Highlands with similar action. It was like 4v1 at the end, but I knew where the enemies were and what their health was like from harassing them throughout the main battle. I just punished them with long range PPC fire, targeting their weak components for efficient kills. Another streak of unerring accuracy earned me some compliments from the team. It's fun when you really get in the zone and just everything is landing perfectly.

In terms of one specific shot, I recently had a gauss/PPC volley land on a moving Locust from about 1km out. Instagibbed him seconds into the match. I'm sure he was thrilled about it.

Rather than a precise shot, I once fired a volley of arms that went between 2 mechanical standing side by side and killed them both with that one shot.

I was laughing my butt off for an hour straight after that. (Too bad I don't have shadowplay)

Head shotted some dude with an AC. It wasn't an aimed shot. I just got lucky. But it was hilarious because the guy raged at me and said I was hacking. I guess because he didn't take damage anywhere else. I laughed my *** off.

Legged a Spider mid-air with a near stock gauss Shadow Cat Prime. I forget the distance, but I'd say it must have been around 400 meters.

I remember a similar match on Frozen City, spectating you...made me want to buy a SHC. Shots between buildings at targets I never even saw but you hit anyway, etc.

When RNGeesus heeded my call, and recycled just as two mechs ran in front of each other (in opposite directions) whilst I launched my final LOLpha

This was when I still had the Potato card, so someone else recorded it
There was Potato aim, but maybe, sometimes, you just need a little Potato (for that glorious inflated damage...which this match didn't have. Largely mediocre, IIRC, aside from the finish)

I do like how the SRMs miss me so many times, though.
Gauss+PPC, better than 9 SRM4s confirmed

Anytime I Gauss or PPC a light who is running full blast or jumping for the kill shot.

I call that a "John Hurt Alien Shot" as I imagine my shot exploding through its chest.

Got a Misty mid air last night with a sync'd Gauss/2xERPPC shot from my Whammy. Made me chuckle.

I was in my SMPL\MG Viper on Mining Colony Conquest. The game was close, mid 600s for both teams, and the enemy had a relatively fresh gauss/ppc Night Gyr and a legged, stripped ECM raven left. I had another viper as an ally who was capping points but wouldn't be able to find the remaining light in time so I was left to try and hold Theta against the Night Gyr.

Through a combination of jump jet feathering, torso twisting, and using the mass of the cap point as cover, I was able to dodge enough gauss/ppc shots to take the legs off the Night Gyr. My unfortunate ally tried to help but he was annihilated as he came up the ramp.

Back when dual AC/20 first got spanked with ghost heat and spiders were still nearly invulnerable I was being hammered by two of them in tourmaline. I dual shot the first one in the back and took it down and went up to 70% heat or whatever ridiculous number it was, then turned to shoot the other one, knowing if I missed I was more or less dead with my cherry red backside showing. I caught him square in the faceplate and the timing was perfect because he just happened to be running on the edge of a drop and went flying down it. Complete luck, but so satisfying.
