It definitely has its days! But none the less I still enjoy the game very much!

Wait a second... Are you trying to put that image in all of your posts because it's larger than the maximum size limit for signatures? That's an... interesting strategy, I'll admit.

Competitive matches in quickplay are extinct.

Nope. I still get good compeitive matches.

Remember: exaggerations and hyperbole are forms of lying. If you try to press the those things as factual truths, then your voice carries less weight.

There are definitely still competitive matches, but there are enough stomps to make the perception of the game seriously suffer. I maintain that there needs to be more to the game than arena deathmatch to divorce winning from fun, or we'll all eventually cash it in with nothing more to interest us. We all have varying tolerances, and this is not to say that quickplay should be done away with. On the contrary, quickplay DM is great for being exactly what is expected of it, but we need to get a good CW format (see my proposal in the current CW thread iteration). We have got to create a gamemode that has something for everyone, from the ultra-tryhards to the casual puggernauts. If we don't, MWO will continue to bleed players, and while I don't have the data, I suspect that we won't be bringing enough new players in that stick around to make up for the losses, evident by the continual "bucket reduction program."

I use "we" because the players can have as much an impact as the developers in making games more engaging. The comp leagues are one avenue that have been fantastic for doing so. Maybe there are other things we can do on the casual side - no ideas there yet - without PGI developing new mechanics/game modes, which will take time.

I, for one, am happy to deliberate on an overhaul to game mechanics and modes, and while I have my preferred ideas, I could definitely get behind some community driven changes that seem like a solution that satisfies a "greatest good" metric and stand behind a continued drum beat to get PGI to implement the desired solutions.

It's a rather bold one, and it's given me the idea. I need to find a gif that's really big, obnoxious and constantly shifting colors and just post it with every post.

Now, Sir Restos the Third. Am I joking, or do you believe I would do this?

If you're implying something, imply it in Bombast's direction. ;)

I am having fun playing, win or lose. But there are somethings that should be changed so other players, especially those who may not have as much invested in "Battletech & Mechwarrior universe" setting do not become frustrated with it, ie isXL death traps when switching between Clan and IS.

I say player education should be enough. Using NPE as an excuse to promote the "IS XL = Clan XL" agenda is going too far.

I use to have fun with the game until pgi ****** up cw and they nerf the is lights into only having one or two is light mechs actually be fun or able to take down the ach Not to mention any other weight class can insta-kill an is xl light with one alpha or the fact most lights are eye level with the atlas.

I haven't played in months due to my pc frying out and frankly I've lost a lot of interest in the game for newer and better games so this game is very far down on my list of games to play when I get a new pc.I have no interest in pgi's vain attempt to hawk mw5 or make it given how horrible the development for this game has been over the past four years.

I'm finding that teams in tier 3 are becoming more like tier 5.

I have fun for the most part, except when I see Polar/Alpine maps. Those maps are plain out stupid and beyond boring. As soon as one of those maps wins its leave match and just wait.

I'm finding the game still quite fun, though I don't suffer from the loss streaks a lot of people supposedly experience - 1716 wins vs 1876 losses over all

after playing a while i start see issues.
One of them is total wrong mech for a map, something you cannot just fix in *advance*..like you in lrm mech and get HPG or you in a cloe range brawler and land on Polar....

I ran lurmboats on HPG, they're just fine unless the enemy all go under the generator dish or in the basement. Brawling on Polar is possible too, as long as you stick with your team and don't attract too much fire until you're in range.

These days I mostly find myself staring at my Mechbay filled with 202 'Mechs, failing to find a motivation to play any of them and closing the game again.

The core gameplay is still definitely fun, but after four years I'm running out of motivation to keep playing. Taking ****** 'Mechs and outplaying meta dudes was my biggest motivator before, but now I can do it regularly. Also the last year's powercreep streak (HBKIIC-KDK-NTG-MADIIC) while the nerfs to the many IS and Clan 'Mechs, invalidated many 'Mechs and made the QP pretty stale and predictable.

Currently the biggest motivator is the new 'Mech releases. Their effort in spicing up the QP with the Escort mode is a total disaster (as Trump would say).

They really need to spice up the gameplay somehow. Perhaps copy Wargaming like you always do. Introduce 8v8/4v4 ranked queue with hero/special 'Mech grand rewards. That'd have me logged in every day.

Lots!

I came back about 2 weeks ago, and since that time, I went from Rank 5 to Rank 3. By far, the most rewarding matches are those with lots of voice chatter, or matches in which I can help with the overall strategy.

Shooting guys is good, but out-thinking them is way, way better.

Who knows, maybe when I hit Rank 1 everyone will be so jaded and set in their ways that PUG chatter will no longer matter. But till then... having a ball!

I still have fun, less so than when I came back to the game (though that's on me, not the game), but I only tend to play during events anymore. The joys of playing too many online only games at a time.
