Hey there!

I can't remember what where the signatur mechs for each faction.

What I remember:

Griffin - Steiner
Dragon - Kurita (SIGNATUR)
Raven - Liau (SIGNATUR)
Awesome - Marik (SIGNATUR)
Rifleman - Davion
Kodiak - Ghost Bear (SIGNATUR)
Dire Wolf - Smoke Jaguar
Timber Wolf - Wolf (SIGNATUR)

Do you know more? And potentially know what is the ABSOLUTE best known mech for each main faction

Edit: Italics for the ones I think are the 'best known' faction mechs. If you go back pre-4th Succession Wars, Liao's changes to the Catapult I believe, since entire mini-wars have been fought trying to capture those from them.

Clan wolf - Timber wolf (clan wolf used this mech more than most clans)
Clan Jade falcon - Summoner (Used this mech for it's mobility and speed)
Clan Nova Cat - Nova Cat (totem mech of the clan)
Clan Ghost Bear - Mad Dog (driven by Khan Jorgesson)
Clan Smoke Jag - more known for their use of battle armor

House Stiener -The griffin? really? No. bad lore. bad lore! The Zeus.
House Davion - yes rifleman but no. The Jagermech, enforcer, both are Ballastic mechs which Hanse Davion was fascinated by and the victor (Victor Steiner Davion's mech)
House Liao - The catapult
House Kurita - right on the nose
House Marik - The Stalker

2. Stalker was neutral wasn't it?

Its not the signatur mech, but its a primary Steiner mech isn't it?

There's a Steiner variant they like, but everyone has Griffins. Liao is noted for not having a factory for them, but they still have a ton of them.

Both Marik and Steiner have Stalker factories, and the design is noted as being so popular and widely used prior to the collapse of the Star League that everyone has a bunch of them.

I'm kinda surprised no one mentioned the Vindicator for Liao yet and the Mauler for Kurita.

In the 3060s Davison's poster mech is the Templar and for Steiner it's the Fafnir. I'm not %100 on everyone else.

Ehh...

While those two mechs get a lot of novel love, I don't think they're the 'poster' mechs of the 3060s for those factions. Davion in particular, which actually went out of their way to release new versions of old faction mechs, like the Enforcer III and Jagermech III, to be the 'poster mechs' of the age.

I think you might be confused due to the fact that the Steiner Throne on the capital of Tharkad is flanked by Griffins thusly...


It is a popular Steiner mech, yes, but it is not the 'signature' mech as it were. That tends to be either the Atlas or the Zeus.

I am pretty sure the Shadow Cat was another design from Clan Nova Cat (aside from the Nova Cat and various others including tanks and more).

You may find your research more productive if you research from the angle of looking at each House or Clan Indian individually on Sarna or another site and see what each group produced (it is listed, along with timeline, planets producing, when rendered obsolete and much more).

Steiner- Zeus

Kurita- Dragon

Davion- Jager

Marik- Awesome

Liao- Urbanmech (seriously, I picture perpetual underdog Liao desperately trying to defend their cities with urbanmechs, tanks, and infantry.)

Rasalhague- ??? Conventional assets or aerospace?
