Just a quick suggestion to take more of my money, Please can we pay to upgrade a "standard Mech into a "Special" Mech. Just for the + 30% cbill and XP boost, dont want any fancy new quirks or paint jobs. just the 30% boost to earnings. Charge 1000 MC or something, Again just an idea.

I asked for that 5 years ago.

Still want it! Doubt its ever coming.

At the time, I thought it would be cool if you got to personalize it further, unique geometry, paint, patterns, etc. after purchasing the c-bill upgrade. Pilots from lore had their signature mechs, I imagined a system that would let us create our own.

It gets brought up every month or so. Ain't happening.

Though, who knows. A new mech selling method is going to debut in a few months, so anythings possible I guess.

They would have to handle special mechs differently because special mechs are technically different variants according to the code.

Would never buy, I have no need for cbills anymore. Maybe if they make me use my cbills but until then kinda pointless.

This feature MIGHT be on PGi's long term radar... as much as the cosmetic-mech-customizations are on the radar. So mech heads, hats, etc. If they put hats on mechs, putting the cbill bonus on could also happen.

That said, I am not holding my breath for this. I might spend MC on it, but I don't expect it to happen.

Sort of....

I'll use my Timber Wolf Prime (I) as an example, as far as C-bills go, she gets an extra 30%, how ever as far as unlocks go, the Prime, Prime (I) and Prime (G) all count as the same mech as far as the skill the current unlocks go.

The point is that if you look at the files, you will find that all those are treated as separate variants, sure skill trees don't treat them that way. Same with the Champions last I knew.

Granted it has been a minute since I looked in the game files for this sort of stuff, but I know it isn't very dynamic which is the major roadblock which is my point, it has to be something they don't have to define statically in the game files to be an actual thing.

I know that Champions work the same as special variants do as far as the current skill unlocks, but I'm not sure how the game files actually treat the units. digging into game files is not something I do.

I figured that was self explanatory, given that I used the wording "current skill unlocks"....

This is equivalent to the permanent camos you can buy with real $ in WoWS, boosting your XP earnings and reducing rearmament costs.

I don't think I'd buy one in MWO ... the thing is, if they add a c-bill boost: makes no difference after all the modules are reimbursed.. We'll all be drowning in c-bills anyway.

And if they add an XP boost -- again makes no difference, because in this game we have no sink for all the XP we gain with our old "keepers". We'll just have hundreds of thousands to millions of XP and nowhere to put them.

They make sense in WoWS because in that game you need over a million XP to have your ship fully tricked out, with a max-level captain. So you'll do anything you can to maximise XP gain on your high-priority ships.

For newer players it can make a difference. Heck, I'd personally love to have my ARC-5W Hero-fied.

In honor of the soon-to-be-implemented skill system... I would not be opposed to it being an "un-lock" for mastering a mech.

In short, once a player maxed their skill tree it would honor/recognize their mastery by unlocking access to a final "premium" skill tree where a player could then earn then purchase incremental skill modules... 1.) 10% premium bonus 2.) 20% premium bonus and obviously maxing at 30% premium bonus.

Well, if people start buying one mech of a chassis rather than three with the new XP system, you might see it as a way to raise PGI income...or maybe not because they can't sell the special upgraded ones if they aren't part of a bigger package.

Either way, they are likely more important to new players trying to build out a stable of mechs. I have like 120 or something so I am not really in need of cbills to spend. I have nothing I want to spend them on anyway.
