we need a social hub. for me, teamspeak doesnt cut it. everyone is scattered to heck and back across many different teamspeak servers and channels. plus, time i spend going to the forums to discuss things takes from my time in game, and im not talking about going on here to argue balance, i mean big things, like danes events and tournament stuff on twitch, its too much too spread with not enough people to really populate everything. so what is the ideal social hub?

first, it be its own seperate page in game, like how clicking faction play brings up a whole new page with new tabs and whatnot.

inside the opening page, id like to see random pages, were you can join a 'room' (dont call it a room, make it cool, like recroom or debriefing room) and let it be populated by up to 24 people. this is more of an oppen thing, and allows for gettin 24 people organized for private lobby.

the second tab can be for people getting together groups for fw. in these, people can ask to join, but approval is only given by the group leader, so they find you, or the leader can send direct invites through his friends list.

at the third tab is voip rooms for units. these are locked to only the unit, and give rooms for plannings, trainings, and unit stuff.

now, what do these things need to do in game? well they need to first be able to have changeable descriptions, for unit, like a recruitment info, or team motto or something to help them present themselves and theyre unit to peopler who might be scrolling through the units, looking. for the other two lobbies, its more like, so group leader opens up one of the first two tabs. he decides fun lobby or more serious fw group. he then puts in a description, like what mechs does he want and minimmum speed for fw, and reccomended builds. if you join one of these rooms in social hub, you should keep your voice connection when you go into things like the mechlab or inventory, so more experienced people can guide you in mechbuilding. wed also need a tab for quickplay rooms come to think of it.

there also needs to be a bulliten board tab in this new system. something were people can write down things, like danes events could be posted.

underneath all that should be a floating written chat system like the one we have now, maybe a bit more fleshed out or sleeked up, and let it keep messages that are sent when your in match or out of game so you can read them when you come back. the message chat should also be with you in whatever part of the game your in, except for in match. evrything else (mechlab, inventory, everywere like that).

now, why exactly do we need them? well first off it will seriously hasten newbs getting into groups faster. it will also help people to see what is generally brought to faction warfare. seeing those descriptions on mechs to bring, even if you dont end up joining that group, will let people have a better idea of what to expect in the future when they do join. when a guy pops in and goes, oh cool, i brought and atlas and 4 locusts, and sees that no one else has a group that reccomends that, hell probably think to himself, 'wow, i better go get three heavies and a medium so i can play with everyone. and itll seriously streamline the pug problem. olnce this kind of system is in place, then bombadils suggestion that we make fw only for groups, (which i believe is a great idea) to be actually fair. because if we do it now, therell be a bunch of people all thinking to themselves "wtf, now im cut out because i dont have a unit," or "i dont have a huge friends list so im cut off," well, now you have a system that allows people do do the grunt work of getting a group theyd like and get along with, and they arent reliant on knowing the group lead, or the group lead noticing them amongst the 30 others in lfg.

it gives the game a fair feature that allows them to at least remove pug only teams from being formed, while still giving those solos a way to get into a team so they can play if theyd like to.

we could even repurpose the call to arms to let it be player made. so if someone needs a couple guys to fill his 10 man out into a 12 man, so he can get into a fw game, he has the option to send out a call to arms with his group description and then let him add a little customization. so maybe give the group leader a dropdown box, and he can click specific things he wants like "only send call to arms to people in my unit, or only send to my faction, or other options he can choose to give him more control.
