Except a Loyalist can't move, can't change and is stuck, which prior to 1 bucket was terrible. Only ever play the mechs and faction you pick.
Also usually you make LESS than mercs as you don't get contract bonus.
Steep penalties for switching around if you ever do decide to break with your faction.
And you know what offsets those disadvantages?
Nothing. Oh, wait, we were allowed to 'vote' for stuff that was absolutely irrelevant. So you're pinned in place for less pay and steep penalties if you ever change your mind but in return for that you got to vote on something irrelevant -
which any merc could get around by making 1 alt account, playing 10 scouting matches and then just using to vote with while keeping the ability to switch anywhere, get bonuses, play IS or Clan mechs and pay a tiny cost to break constracts compared to a loyalist.
