I just had an amazing idea, a revolutionary way of avoiding friendly fire! This will eliminate 99.95% of all friendly fire, guaranteed or your C-bills refunded! (MC is non-refundable.)
Step 1.Aim carefully.
Step 2.Do not aim carefully at your lancemates.
Step 3.???
Step 4.Profit!

Through the powers of heat vision and the "joys" of icons overlapping each other, I've aimed at and fired upon an ally mech that I couldn't see was an allied mech due to its icon getting covered up by the red enemy dorito. That was a fun match.

Friendly fire is mostly caused by.
LURM boats dropping missiles on brawling targets they can't see.
'Brave' pilots that hung back and now suddenly want that kill regardless of personal cost to the friendlies in the way once the match has been won.
Pilots masking the target to 'secure the kill'
situationally unaware pilots that push past a mech with line of sight to an engaged target, and then call them idiot potato heads for shooting them in the back.
The kill suddenly becoming phantom and shots that would have hit it suddenly impacting a friendly the other side ( this is clearly an intended feature of the game as it's happened from day one, with no comment about fixing it)
Streak boats tracking targets that imposes a friendly between it and the firing mech
None of these situations will change by adding a feature that isn't needed, the red dorito exists for a reason, friendly fire happens because people chose to ignore it

'Cathy' is on point here but I do still see a lot of team mates walk in front of activatly shooting players, zoom shooters who back shoot team mates that they cann't see who are in their way. The learning curve on this takes time to know where not to be and where not to shoot.
Note: I do try and call the targets I'm on as an encourgement for others to fire on them and as a warrning.

I've stated before and made the suggestion - The game already tracks friendly fire. So it can easily report friendly fire as it occurs. Therefore:
1. When hitting an allied target, make the reticle flash a different color, or change shape, or whatever.
2. When hit by an allied target, show the direction on the indicator in a different color (and perhaps even add a yellow marker around the guilty party for a moment).

God no, this game needs no more dumbing down, just because a few idiots can't aim or check fire
HA!
Just wait till they implement Incursion game mode. People are already overwhelmed by the "complexity" of Domination...
