For the whole topic of Banshees getting the same structure buffs as the Atlas or whatever else, my idea for that would be a "skill multiplier" set per mech. Basically, each of the skills in the tree comes with a low default value, and then this value is increased based on your specific chassis/variant multiplier.

So, that Banshee might only get 5% structure at the lowest level of the structure skill tree, while an Atlas might get 10% to 15% for the same skill point cost.

This would allow for a mostly global skill tree while still giving the poppy gundams more benefit than Kodiaks.

I'm guessing this is what they are going to do, but I don't know. Flat just providing more skill points makes less sense than putting a multiplier on the skills, IMO.

But that was in response to someone saying "Oh see its great now somebody can put all that structure that is on the Atlas on the Banshee, so they can now do whatever they want with their favorite mechs", which is a very flawed assessment as there is no way the bonuses can be equal between all the mechs. Balance would be a disaster.

all this would really mean is instead of everyone taking a AS7 for Amazing Tanky ness(Armor & Structure)
you can now make your BNC just as Tanky, or your AWS, ect ect, people will be able to make their favorates amazing

That's both ridiculous and terrible.

You come across as a genuinely nice and sincere poster, so I try to go easy on you - but let's just say your ideas on balance are extremely far from the mark.

What I mean by that, is the majority of your ideas are not balanced at all - you often seem to regard things that are clearly stronger than others as not stronger at all.

This is another one of those cases.

It's also why I think the skill tree is going to be a mistake if it's not just a slightly better version of what we have now (something I wish we didn't even have in the first place).

If it allows us to push mechs equally to get "what we want" - it is going to be the next two years of balance disaster.

It's more fined tuned min/maxing.

That's coming from a min/maxer who will min/max it and use that advantage against all of the weapons grade potatoes in the queues.
