Its the skill tree you don't use because you need weapons and armor more.

tested each, i have a video being uploaded to youtube as we speak,

with everything its like a 10-15% boost to JJ(Height/Distance(@FullRun)

I tested with the SHC and Viper, and yeah, they barely get enough of a boost for it to matter. It's enough that you can reliably land on the walls of HPG with a SHC instead of having a chance of getting snagged on the side, but, that's not much of a change. The vectoring is quite nice though, since it allows you to cross graps and jump from building to building on certain maps easier, but, it's not worth it.

They deserve their own thread.

So, is anyone seeing oneself investing any points there?

I'm doubting I'll get any. Jump jets need higher boosts on things like Assaults. Tiny 5% boosts to jump height mean more on something that already jumps high, but since they jump so high already it doesn't matter much at all, meanwhile on an assault the jump boost isn't even something you can visibly see.

Yeah I don't feel enough of a difference to warrant getting them. And that's on my Vindicator with 4 JJs. Needs to be tweaked up a little higher.

Only jump snipers should need JJ skills

I think if they changed the duration bonus from 5%, to 15%, and the thrust vectoring to have a kick when you hit the jets at the final node, smaller mechs and others that use jumpjets would be more encouraged. Initial thrust plays to poptarts, but the other two make for more maneuverable and fun engagements. People are saying it's barely noticeable, but the difference on something like a shadowcat or huntsman is huge for horizontal movement, and I play both extensively.

They're also a good point sink if you aren't too braindead to switch up your builds once in a while.
You can take defensive, full agility, sensors, and JJ's + operations if you don't want the 5% heat gen on a laser you'll use on 50% of your builds.

video here,

personally, unless you use JJ alot, Poptarting, or using them heavily for mobility, id say no,
the stats i feel need to be at least doubled due to how they are structured,

also their needs to be a much greater benefit for Assaults in the JJ Tree,
personally i was thinking of giving them to my DWF, but after testing +3m height & +12m Running i have to say no,

With mechs only getting 91 sp I decided not to invest in the jj branch because I needed the weapons and maneuverability of the torso more for my griffon. Even then I did not have enough to get it's weapons back to where they were before the skill tree change. Hell if the lrms did not have their range reduced I could of made more use of my er larges.

Tried to fully upgrade jump jets on my PXH PPC poptart. Not really worth it, even with max number of jump jets equipped.

Why does PGI hate jump jets so much?

tested JJ tree with my grasshopper-H, full JJs. was disappointed. There may be a mathematically increase in some stats. In practice I didn't notice any difference compared to live servers. I didn't run tests like Andi but if you have to run them to actually see a difference, its a minor impact not worth mentioning. Vectoring....I double checked back in the mechlab if skill points were correctly saved after I unlocked them just to be sure I did.
And these are ~15 points.

In other words, the height buff needs to have a fixed value rather than a relative one.

I did on the SCH and Night gyr, didn't feel much of anything or nothing at all.

I say buff each node by 2%, except vectoring.

Its not 5% heat gen its 15 of you 91 points.... "maybeeeeeeeee" poptarts might use this but everyone else it cost way to much. It should be decreased. Heck most my mechs still only have 1 or maybe 2 JJ on them haha

"Wow, 30 whole percent!"

4.1->5.33

wow!

My opinion on it, far too low of a value to be worthwhile
Even the IS&A seem small, but I can see why. Some mechs seem to need global modifiers on top of this tree

I spent some time testing it on my Timberwolf.

Tried 0 skills invested, tried to clear some specific (hard) locations on Canyon.

Then maxed the tree, tried to clear the same locations with no change.

No appreciable speed up, minimal gains in boost duration. Several locations I still couldn't clear the spot I was trying to clear.

The difference in performance was so weak, it wasn't even worth trying to test out different break points to look for sweet spots - there are none.

This is because the bonuses are percentages based on low base numbers - so the gains do very little.

The tree as it stands now, is poor value and it's unlikely I would ever invest in it as it stands.

*Above testing also had maxxed out Upper/Lower torso trees for both with and without JJ tree. This means JJ tree would actually be even worse, if you weren't maxing those trees due to how important velocity is when trying to achieve jumps.
