The c-bill cost is the problem here.

For every mech you master the cbill costs of nodes for other variants should be reduced by a third. 9 mil for the first, 6 mil for the second, 4 mil for the third, etc.

Getting rid of the 3 mech requirment is good. No upside to having multiple variants is bad.

This is the right solution.

I don't know about a third precisely, I think that decision may be best left in the hands of PGI since ultimately any number given there directly affects their bottom line. But the concept itself, of a discount for the first, and second mastered mech of a chassis, is the perfect solution to a potentially thorny problem.

With this in place owning 3 mechs would still be an advantage without being a strict requirement, giving more choices to new and old players alike.

From where I stand we are talking about dropping from over 250 mastered mechs to a pity penny pack.

thats a reason to never help kickstart games from that studio again by e.g. buying a gold mech or some large pack. in fact the current PTS skill tree is a reason to look for some other passtime that is more rewarding than "grind. loose grind to game change. regrind".

stick the grind where it belongs PGI. in a trashcan.

oh. and did you ever try grinding the new PTS skill tree with a trashcan ?

this new skill tree is the biggest turn-off to this game since the long tom. i do not want to grind for something that is just plain stupid in a FPS game.
