Team Damage?

Ello ello, i took a break for a while (probably half a year) so i'm coming back and every game i'm getting decent amount of team damage. Now this last game i'm sure i didnt hit any friendlies and somehow i got 600 something team damage. I overheated and overwrote so i'm assuming they changed the team damage to include overheating self damage?

Negative. Overheat doesn't deal team damage. I overheat fairly often and many matches I don't deal a single team damage. Seriously tho... 600 is an insane amount of team damage. Are you sure it's not the 600 cbills penalty got team damage? It's 21 cbills per team damage so that's only about 30 team damage

Is that what it shows on the left screen? If so then yes that would have been it.

Yes, the left screen is just your match rewards. The middle is your actual numbers.

30 team damage is still kinda high. Not high enough to trigger a penalty, but high enough to suggest that you need to mind your fire more.

Most matches I do less than ten team damage, often none (usually just small amounts of collision damage, sometimes my fault, sometimes not). The highest amount of team damage I've done since we started getting stats for it is a bit over 120, due to an offensive push by my team unfolding differently than expected, resulting in 2 or 3 teammates walking right into my arty drop... oops. :(

Eh, on a PPC boat, one bad move by an ally running into your shot, and you've got 30 instantly. With my chainfiring Warhawk I can rack up some stupid team damage when people don't watch where they're going and walk right in front of me.

Yeah, but consistently? Once every now and again I understand, but it really shouldn't be the norm, yknow?

Tripzter, that is not very much damage, you are not going to get any TKMDDs that way, maybe a lucky TK-steal. For better results wait until the team is hiding behind the citadel for the group picture and try to airstrike the spider flying overhead.

the big concern that I have are those who seem to think that everyone has perfect reflexes and will stop firing the moment they move their faster mech in front of mine... I am so sick of that thought pattern that I have stopped worrying about it, and just keep firing... If they are stupid enough to go waltzing in front of a mech that is firing that is their fault, not mine; although I doubt there is any way for pgi to check for that since I can't code worth a damn...

Having recently upgraded my pc, I reinstalled MWO and set off with glee looking at my 218 fps at highest visuals; ran and met up with everyone waiting for the red team, hit my rebound zoom key . . . next second or three later, two mechs dead, backs gone, light mechs cored . . my rebound key was the arty call one in the default setting, friendly fire damage around 420 as we were very tight formation; lots of apologies but some laughs. So the 30 damage thing isn't anything to be worried about.

Morale of the story - always check key bindings in the testing grounds, that goes for weapons and utilities Posted Image

Hehehehe know the feeling just when you press the button for a arty someone steps in front you,arty explodes in the middle of youre group massive team damage.Not youre fault not mine fault, people have to learn it seems, not to step in front of a firing mech but go around them to take there own position to fire at the enemie.
Practice is they go stand in front of you because thats the best place to shoot at the enemy i know because thats why i'm standing there you.......
People will never learn it seems.

Possibly due to the PSR changes settling things around, but I'm getting shot in the back far more often lately my folks who don't seem to realise their lasers won't bend around friendly mechs.

600 team damage?!? I would bet my ma's knickers that it was caused by an air or arty strike. If not then STOP SHOOTING THE GUYS IN BLUE!!! Your job is to shoot the red ones.

Most of the time if I get team damage, it's either because (A) Some idiot walked right in front of me as I was firing or (B ) a light pilot in a hurry ran into my leg and got damaged.
The worst is when you're shooting at a red dorito from long range but one of your teammates is in front of them and you hit them instead.

Move to higher Tiers quickly. This problem is less common here.
