I am not too worried about which specific changes PGI makes to the skill tree system, I just want the thing implemented. The extra toughness should amplify my inner sphere toughness quirks nicely. I would worry a bit about a small number of IS chassis that have no variants with toughness quirks. But I am OK with a few variants becoming much weaker in the short term while balance changes are made. But I recognize many ppl are more worried about balance than I am and that it is valid to worry that you will have to buy a new Mech or two in the short term to stay relevant at high level play. Then again, are the mechs perfectly balanced now? And most of my favorite mech's would probably be considered lower tier in high level play.

Quirks that were originally given to IS chassis to make them competitive with Clan Mechs are being removed. Clan Mechs are being given access to skill unlocks they didn't have previously. Hence the gaps widens.
