So far, 9.1 million is pretty ******* expensive -- or cheap, depending on what you want to do. If you want lots of mechs mastered, this is really expensive, and the grind is real, else if you just like a few select mechs, not even going to bother yourself with other variants of the same chassis, then it's a pretty ******* sweet deal.

It's nice to have the effects of 30 million cbill worth of modules, in just 2.2 million, and working all at the same time at a single mech. Remember that it's on a per mech basis. that old 30 million still costs the same over 100 mechs, the new skill tree costs 220 million for the same 100 mechs.

This immense cost would certainly discourage experimentation and changing builds, as lots of cbills would be accrued every time you respecced, such as changing from PPC specialization to Laser specialization. It's like switching to and from Artemis/FFA constantly.

So this is my suggestion:

Permanently unlocked nodes: Nodes don't have to be bought once more, you just need to buy them one then you can equip them or unequip them as you please. You can change builds as much as you like without the fear of repercussion, such as rebuying the old skills because the new skills you tried didn't work.

You still need 9.1 million to master mechs individually, but respecing is not. Nodes can also be transferable between variants, or between mechs on PGI's discretion.
