Greetings MechWarriors. Today I have a simple question. How does this skill tree change the "feel" or performance of certain otherwise average or mediocre™ weapon systems, like the IS LL or LBX? Please offer as detailed a response as possible covering as many weapon systems or builds that you've personally experienced.

Cooldown buffs feel too weak, 5% for IS and 4% for Clans just isn't enough to be worth it.

I'd like for each cooldown node to be slightly stronger and for more nodes total, so if you pay up you can get cooldown buffs that actually matter.

IS mechs that still have good duration quirks (You know, the ones that are so terrible that PGI didn't preemptively nerf them?) can get some crazy short burn durations now.

LBX with spread reduction actually feels pretty good. Mauler with quad LB-10x can put the full spread into a Kodiak's CT from 400m+ if you aim well enough. Clan LBX is kinda scary.

Other than that, it feels like a blanket nerf to everything. Cooldown needs to be more powerful but have a higher opportunity cost.

AC/10 is night and day with that extra 20% velocity. Like, it should've had that from the start. I ripped the 2xAC/5 off of my MAD-5M pop-tart and went to the AC/10...only wish it would go out to 540 meters.

AC/20, similar story to AC/10. Also wish the range went to 360.

Standard AC/5 and AC/2 feel like they fire way too slow. Even the AC/10 feels like it fires too slow. Unless I'm using it with PPCs, I'd pretty much rather have the UAC/5.

UAC/5 with jam chance reduction is very nice, especially on my RFL-3N (yes!). It spits out 70 damage in about the same time the KDK-3 used to spit out 80...so...pretty goddamn good. Hot. But good.

LB-10X and LB-20X feel fantastic. 20% spread reduction is what it always should've had, and it feels so good at 300 meters now. Very much worth taking if you know most of your work will be at that distance, even combined with PPCs against bigger targets. LB-10X could possibly stand to fire a little faster. Nothing for the LB-20X, not when the Scorch is a thing. LB-5X feel good, could also use rate of fire bump. I would say the LB-2X should fire faster, but it's basically redundant with the LB-2X and cUAC/2 since all three are front-loaded, so...meh.

UAC/2 seems bugged. I swear to Oprah, it jams every third pull and the second one follows two shots later. And that's with a maxed out tree.

SRM2 doesn't fire fast enough, firing way too slow for their range.

IS Small lasers are still terrible. Fire way too slow.

Medium lasers are too hot unless you've got 'Mech quirks to help. 15+% shorter duration seems to obsolete the isMPL unless you have tonnage but no more hard-points (i.e. COM-TDK). MedLas needed a shorter duration, but not that short. On the other hand, BJ-1X is buffed almost to where it used to be by this...meh. Maxing your Laser tree makes isML sync almost perfectly with isLPL if you don't trick out the Pulse duration (seriously, it would be a waste to). Jester and BLR-1G are laughing all the way to the bank.

Large Laser is okay with the shorter burn. Problem with the LL has always been that its range is too short, though, and it still is. At 540 meters, it's fantastic. At 495, it's kind of underwhelming. Having a poor-man's LPL makes it a little more desirable, but taking four of them is mostly a side-grade to three LPL, with the caveat of ghost heat getting in the way.

Giving all of the Clan lasers (except cERLL) a broadly applicable duration reduction is a horrible, horrible, horrible idea. I tried it in my EBJ with 68 alpha...yeah, I'm just gonna take that torso, mmmmkay? 'Kay. Ditto my 6x cMPL EBJ, and now I can lpha that sh*t three times instead of two and I have barely any more duration than an isLPL with superior range and damage to that old TDR-5SS quirk-monster. This has to get gone.

PPCs with 20% are much better than stock. Kind of like the AC/10. Allows me to run PPCs on my Dragon 1C and BJ-1DC (with AC/10!) much more efficiently, and this I like. I'm sure 5% heat is helping, too, but...not really feeling it with us running hotter at the baseline. cERPPC feel stupidly good, even on a Shadow Cat.

TL; DR: The skill tree is highlighting the deficiencies PGI has left to fester as the base stats on a lot of equipment items, and emphasizing just how good the Clan items can be and why PGI did what they did when they increased burn times and heat and such.

The duration changes, spread changes on LRM, velocity boosts to ballistics and LRMs, and range boosts on SRMs feel absolutely great.

Alternatively the cooldown boosts are entirely unnoticeable, especially for a clanner.
