I don't think the steam chart does much to prove anything, I haven't used steam to log in since the first day P.G.I went there, I know that others do.
The lowest numbers happened at midday in Western Europe, 11 am in U.K 3 am on the west coast of America 7 am on the East coast.
M.W.O players are mostly middle aged, though from how they act here you wouldn't think so at times, and hold down jobs, so those numbers don't surprised me at all.
I don't think this game will die out because of H.B.S's Battle tech, I think P.G.I are accelerating it's demise quite effectively on their own with Skill trees that encourage more boating, making each mech a bigger crunching grind and eliminating the need to master three.
That said, I've always projected this game would close sometime in 2018 even before MW5 and the current insanity.
I do expect sales to drop a little once Battle Tech does come out, as while it's different people will leave, how many I've no idea.
As for a M.W.O 2 I think that's pie in the sky, I certainly won't support it. If it ensures the closure of this mess, I've invested far to much to see the servers close completely, because it's abandoned for a new shiny by P.G.I
I'm more curious to know exactly what income P.G.I are relying on to keep this and MW5 going unless it runs in an offline mode after that date, because the only way I can see is to increase single mech prices to compensate for the need of buying three at least.
That will go down like a lead balloon in popularity here I shall be investing some money into the production of pop corn very shortly
