Even an Atlas driving in reverse can usually fend off a light mech (I've done it though not recently)... though as mentioned above ... if you are driving an assault and find yourself having to engage a light all by yourself then you (and your team) have done something wrong. Assaults should not be on their own, you need at least a wing man if not a lance in support.

A single light is almost never a problem in an Atlas. Three at a time make me want to punch myself in the throat. It should be noted that one cannot always control who he engages, when he engages, or how he engages, in the solo QP queue.

the effectiveness of lights really depends on the pilot. i see locust stand still and face tank my assault mechs from time to time. on the other hand ive seen lights defeat every one of my anti light tricks which have fell many a light pilot in the past. i have a lot of respect for those guys. somewhere between these extremes is your average light pilot. they die stupid deaths from time to time and have moderate success at typical light tactics and they might kill half the lonely assault mechs they run into. its the same give and take you see in other classes.

next to assaults lights are my next favorite class. meds and heavies are all jack of all trades easy mode mechs and i dont enjoy them as much as the extremes.

nah I respect lolcusts but you may want to check your fact again. that may have been before the resize but it changed (size that is) nice to know that 10 HP st + armour... gets onehit by 20 damage tho did not expect that since ive had quite alot of locusts spread theyr armour between front /back to take more than 1 hit on both.

I don't think it's quite possible to do that, but an AC20 shot to front CT will turn your structure bright orange at the very least. A dual Gauss shot, though? GG.

Each crit is 3 damage

If you have 2 rear armor, 18+10-20-9=-1
Dead

All 3% of that happening
But 26 damage is a more respectable 17%

Not a single light broke 200 damage, the Terribad threshold.

I've been in a team where up to half of them did not surpass 100 dmg and my heart was broken into many pieces like a shattered glass that day. I'll provide a screenshot laterz.

I've been in a team where MORE than half didn't break 100 damage.

The sad part is that I have many more screenshots like this ... nice job matchmaker.Posted Image

Also, might I add that the tier system needs a complete revamp.

40 pinpoint damage > light mechs

This isn't an attempt to show off, mind you-- lights really need help. There's not much to applaud over one shotting lights. Their quirks are the weakest across the board, their firepower is limited, their sustain is too short, and after rescale many are just too easy to pick apart with pinpoint and pulse lasers.

You forgot some Lights jump worse than Mediums with the same number of jets.
Even with max jets, some Mediums jump better than Lights.
Viper and Assassin, the new Scout Mechs.

I have to disagree, lights do not need help and they do not need nerfed. As a whole the group is fine, but maybe a few could use a little push to help bring them better in line with their other lights in their class.

Trying to balance class with other classes doesn't work. But trying to balance what is in that class with what else is in that same class does.

As for lights I find a good pilot can do 400 damage and more. You will find many with 1k damage even some ravens with it or a spider with 1 erppc with 1k damage being done. Some people are just bad at piloting lights. Just like some people are bad at piloting bigger mechs and get killed by those lights.

Erm, you can say that, when the Firestarter, Panther, and Wolfhound don't have the frontal profile of a 60 ton heavy.

lol. Another Lights OP/Not_OP debate thread.
Light pilots be like "hurr durr l2 aim noob" while avoiding like 99% of lasers damage due lagshields and then dies from couple well placed gauss/ppc/ac20 shots. Its so painfull to watch your lasers fully connected to ACH upper leg their entire duration and he's just moonwalking away with 1-2 actual damage received to said part.
If that day comes and PGI fix netcode, forums will be filled with piles of salt from locust/cheetah/commando(yes, this thing is nearly immortal on full speed). And then we will need real buffs to lights. As for now, imo pgi shoud de-rescale all lights.

This...and so much of this

Thxs...

Its simply absurd to go on spectator mode and seeing an nmy light running thru a bunch of mech firing on him and he actually gets no real damage...you see the crosshair going red and shows a hit in the spec mech...and the light is hardly even scratched.
It sucks...and yes, this does feeling like exploiting to many ppl.

Umm....What no light can do that not even the locust without either legged or simply obliterated, from focus fire. It's literally no exploiting, just bads refusing to get better or even refuse to use streaks even IS ssrm2 is scary to lights.
