Yeah, for whatever reason, the intro movie plays at a MUCH higher volume than the rest of the game, it does not respec my turning down the master switch it seems. How do I remove them / turn them down / go to black screen or anything?

I tried the bumper.xml thing but it seems that is now killed. I know in some games you can replace a few files with blank stuff and it'd work, how does it work here?

Are you referring to the launcher screen before you can sign into the game? Just hit space bar and you can skip that. Otherwise, I am uncertain as to what other "Into movie" you could be talking about.

I believe he is referring to the videos that play in the launcher. I usually have my headset on before I launch the game and the video with the Atlas is much louder than anything else, and even though I am pounding space it still plays a second or two. I'm used to it now but it was a bit shocking at first.

It was loud for me as well, till I turned down the master volume on my computer itself, instead of in game. (Actually, never adjusted the in game volumes.) I use the mixer function on my computer to give me better sound controls, so each program runs at the level of sound I need, no matter the device.

I just click on the screen with my mouse & it goes away instantly. I do wish however that the launcher remembered my password.

That could cause security issues. I would hate to leave my computer on, have someone get to it and then "hack" my account and do whatever they wanted with it (like selling all my stuff, or getting into matches and breaking the CoC and get my account banned).

I'm happy enough with it remembering my username. Passwords I'll type every time, just to be safe.

I get what your saying if someone other then yourself might have access to your computer. They could institute a check box so the user can decide to save it or not. I own my own home & no one has access to my PC but me. Moreover my closest neighbor is over a mile away & hes a crotchety old rancher whom the only mouse he has ever held was dead & stuck in a trap....

Though I see your point, and I too have my own house and trust everyone who comes into said house... I'd rather think of the "average" user, or even just a more robust security overall. Better to be safe than sorry, and considering how many times I've heard of someone's Facebook account going awry because "someone else" messed with it while they were auto-logged in...

Basically, I agree with you overall, but I'd still rather play it safe. Just make your password an easy one to type. Be my suggestion. (But avoid the obvious pitfall "dumb" ones, like 12345 or such...)

Agree. Unfortunately you may have to do what i do--don't put on the headphones till after you're in the MechLab.

If you find a workaround let me know though :)

If using regular MWO without Steam..
Locate your user.cfg file and insert this line

g_skipIntro = 1
Nevermind; this still isn't functional. Was disabled sometime in 2012 for reasons unknown.

I always just spam the Escape key as soon as the intro plays, it'll take you directly into the login screen.

Yea i agree with ya here.. So bloody annoying to type it every time. Check box is the perfect solution. Steam is the perfect example.. Origins on the other hand has to retype it every-time the damn thing updates.. which means digging out my handy dandy PW keeper just to bloody log in. At least this game i play enough that i remember the PW. but still.. PGI give us a checkbox for those that like to live on the wild side of risk.Posted Image

OP: heh.. i didn't even realize it had sound.. I never turn mine on till I'm about ready to drop for a mission..

I agree with Tesunie,

it is realy easy to make a stong easy to remember, quick to type password, many people just use charactors from a single line of a keyboard, e.g. qwerty or 123456, those are way too easy to guess but as an example 567tyuGHJ or wer234"£$WER (on a uk keyboard that is wer234, then with shift held down 234wer), ether of those basic ideas are almost as quick to type, and massivly reduces the odds of someone guessing it do not use those examples, they are just there to give you an idea of how to make a quick to type relitavely strong password.

I use 2 words and a numerical sequance to create a strong easy to remember password, but that is not nessicaraly quick to type (at least the first few times, after about 10 times it gets into muscle memory and a 15 charactor password takes me maybe 2 seconds to type as opposed to 3-4 seconds with my regular touch typing speed)

i like the password idea too, because believe it or not, it protects against keyloggers because you are not typing a password

also, if they stored a token with say a monthly expiry, that would also work too, and even if they get their hands on the token, just log out manually and log in and the token would be removed and useless.

not to mention 2FA and etc...

Most people who might purposefully try to "hack" a MW:O account would do so only to mess it up on the user. Otherwise, MW:O is rather safe from 3rd party "sale" sites, because we don't have trading as an option. AKA: A Keylogger program probably wouldn't even bother with a MW:O account/password, as there is no profit in it for them.

As far as manually typing passwords, that would only be to prevent a "friend" from "mucking around" on your account "for laughs". (Or an angry girlfriend/boyfriend/etc.)

Honestly.. if you don't log into an account much.. Its not easy to remember a PW.. How many accounts do you have? these days people have 100's.. and if you are not using a unique PW for everone, you are doing it wrong. I don't have the recall to remember all of um, and besides these days with things getting breached a month doesn't go by that something is getting changed as it is. not to mention the ones you typically change anyway for security because they are to important not too. It is such a PIA to go look up a PW every time you wanna log into something, so when a game can remember them it's always a welcome thing.

btw, Games are the only thing i do that with,, everything else i use i log manually.. But looking up a PW for a game forum or something i rarely use is one thing.. But when i wanna play a game, i just wanna click the icon and go. Posted Image that's one reason why i like steam, i click and go.. all but this game.. Posted Image

Id also like to see a quick launch, that either brings you right to the log in, or better would be right to mechbay...

It would reduce the time also for when your crash to desktop on launch with a team

there are some (about 10) accounts which I use daily, I have all of them memorised and type them each time, I have about another 40 which I use fairly reguraly, at least once a week, most but not all are memorised, and I have hints (not the full password) stored on my phone, that is pretty secure as a 2-3 word reminder tells me exactly what it is but would mean nothing to anyone else, and I do the same with my infrequantly used accounts (I do not know how many).
