PGI chickened out because "MASC on a fast mech will break HSR"
except the versions with MASC? Were 97 kph robots. So that was never the issue. The Flea in no form pushed the speed boundaries (the one variant at the time that had MASC and would have been in would have come up to right about the cap, with max Engine and TT style MASC). At the time they just didn't know how to work MASC as a mechanic, period. Oh, and PGI being very lazy about programming mechanics. And by the time the did, the Unseen were freed, and as such, the poor man's Locust was no longer going to serve any purpose whatsoever.
-14 is 9/14, no MASC movement, but is 15 tons, and as such would not be included.
-15 is 6/9 no MASC
-17 is 6/9 with MASC (max engine 170, 137 kp max before MASC)
-4 is 6/9 no MASC
-19 is 6/9 no MASC
-20 is is 6/9 with MASC (max engine 170, 137 kp max before MASC)
Fire Moth? Now that is going to be an issue with the speed cap.

How many IS robots, especially lights, run around with the original engines in them?

It's an IS light, that probably would have had a similar engine cap to the Locust. I mean, come on, without at least a 170 (derp) engine cap the thing would rightly be considered DOA, MASC or no.
I'd play it.
Not the question.
Also, if it doesn't look liek a REAL Flea, and not that Derptastic Raptor Wannabe from MW4? No interest.
real flea or no flea at all.

Explain La Malinche then.
still sad... though it's better than people realize (not saying it's great, just not terribad, 3 LPL and an AC10 can be pretty effective. If they weren't waist level, it would be downright mean) ... but it was supposed to have Jump Jets. But they decided that would be OP.... same with an extra missile rack on the Vindicators.
So OP.

Although I still dream of a day when I will pilot a flea with some small lasers, and while doing so kill a 100 ton mech. The ultimate embarrassment to be killed by a clown in a flea with small lasers.

St. Ives' Blues, too, for that matter. The Vindi wasn't in huge demand, much less a hero that is objectively the worst variant possible of the damn thing.
****, I would argue that NOBODY was clamoring for a Blackjack hero, either. I'm surprised it sold as well as it did.
1 more missile rack, the SIB would be pretty solid. Actually, all of the VNDs would be a large jump forward with that. Not Meta, by any means... but whatever.
Anyhow, I still find the VND-1AA and SIB can be pretty effective (at least in my hands, mwahaahahahaha).\
As for the BJ Hero? Blackjacks actually were dang popular for quite some time, so no shock there.

It's funny because all Vindis actually have an additional missile hardpoint already modeled and ready to go. It's just flipped off like a switch, because PGI is apparently afraid of a 45-ton mech with 7 hardpoints.

I still maintain that if there are people who ponied up for the damn Mist Lynx, there would absolutely be people who wanted a Flea.
People brought the Urban mech for Blakes sake! If that can get brought into the game then why can't the Flea?

The Urbanmech is iconic. The Flea is not. The only thing the Flea is famous for is that Alex Iglesias made MWO concept art for it. If Alex never did that, literally no one would ever ask for the Flea.

I repeat: Mist Lynx. Who was saying "**** yeah, I want me some of that"?
No one, I'm fairly certain. Not even the people asking for TRO3050 mechs mentioned it, they focused on the Fire Moth.
The Mist Lynx was just added as a filler for PGI's old mech pack model of four tiers and four weight classes. The old model was technically more economical because you got more "mechs per dollar" than the current model, but the downside is that you were forced to buy mechs you didn't want (aka lights).
