Thank you all for a successful event once again! Here are the teams for the Swiss Pair part of the tourney.

Following 3 best 2/3 rounds of stock mech destruction, of which team 1 won handlily we voted on MVP/Best Sport for each team. The winning team MVP/Best Sportsman was: Tiyos1017 with a mechpack!
The other MVP/Best Sport awards went to Ascaloth, Xiphias, Jables McBarty for 1000MC each!

Makro successfully answered our big mech lore trivia question earning him 1000MC!

Roadkill XP won a mechpack in the preregistration lottery (those who preregistered, showed up and survived the entire event had a chance to win the lottery - no small feat!)

Ascaloth won the Kill the Raven fight, not only killing the elusive Raven 3L, but wiping out the entire enemy team as well in doing so! Don't believe me? Check this out. (He won a mech pack!)

And finally, in our last event, the 'Mech Commander' event where each team had a spectator directing the team, but where no one other than the spectator could talk, Frostvetron succeeded in securing our final mechpack prize!

Thanks to everyone who came out to make the event possible!
Thank you PGI for keeping the faith and sponsoring my unusual experiments on the community!
And thanks to my fellow Devil Dog Preesa Snow for helping out in the judge's booth!

Those who have been to my events, feedback helps me know what to do more of and what didn't work out. We weren't blessed with a streamer today, and so I must depend on your ideas to make more exciting events possible!

In reviewing feedback, much of the time playing was spent between drops rather than during drops.

1. How do people feel about that?

2. If it is a problem, how can I revise the rules to reduce time between drops?

Another question, for those of you who survived to the end:

1. What do you think of the 'MechCommander mode' whereby one teammate is a spectator? (Remember, if we do this again, we can't have observers listening in to see if anyone is violating the 'only the spectator speaks' rule. If we do a MechCommander tournament, I'm thinking

EITHER - we rotate the spectator so everyone gets a chance to spectate/drop call.
- OR - the team votes on who is spectator/drop caller.

One issue with having a 'MechCommander' is that it requires even more players on a team. Ideally, teams would be 6 to 8, or maybe even bigger. But then we need LOTS of people participating. 24-30 players might not cut it.

Thoughts on my questions?

Well one of the extended waits for a match, was due to a lobby mistake and mechs being locked. Other than that I did not feel like there was long waits overall.

I don't think drop set-up time was too long except for when there was lobby errors and the mechs were locked as mentioned above. I think everyone was polite and understanding about coordinating with strangers on how to split weights, etc. as well.

Overall the wait time was shorter than Faction Warfare phase 3.

Mech commander mode was neat, though it would be much better with more people for sure.

Side note: has anyone gotten their prizes yet? Just curious :)

I thought I posted on this a day or so ago. Maybe I hit 'post' and didn't wait for it to post. As I leave my computer on all day, sometimes my log-in with MWOmercs.com times out. I do remember typing it up though, because I sent another note to PGI bugging them for prizes at the same time!

So, no, prizes have not been distributed to my knowledge. I'll post here as soon as I hear they have been.

Maybe April Fools Day? Or maybe the day after. I wonder which is better for people, Saturdays or Sundays?

Sundays are better for me, anyhow. I tend to have a huge chunk of Saturday spoken for with other obligations.

Sorry it's been so long since the last one. I've been discouraged by the lack of progress and new stuff in the game. When was the last time we got a new map or game mode? I will leave it at that. This shouldn't be a thread for ranting.

How many people would like to try something out like this:

Clan vs. IS for the first half of the afternoon, then teams switch sides so both sides get a dose of whatever is good or bad about said mechs?

The biggest problem with this is I would like to make the teams uneven, meaning let's say 6 IS 3025 players vs. 8 clan players. It would cause problems when flipping sides. Anyway, brainstorming.

IS 3025 only vs clan, no quirks or efficiencies/pilot skills. Not sure how I feel about modules. Could be no arty/air/UAVs.

I could also design something campaign style, including secret objectives? Getting your secret objectives gives you bonuses in later battles.
