Personally I'm just waiting for VR support for the main games I play before I even think about it, pretty much just MWO and Planetside 2.

I recently posed the question of VR support in MWO to one of the Piranha Games principles. Their response was paraphrased that the cost of such VR devices would need to drop a lot more otherwise the VR devices would be considered a "niche" device and not worth developing for use in MWO.

As members of the MWO gaming community, please express your opinion and preference about VR device usage and support in MWO.

At some point PGI wanted MWO to have VR support. Months later they found out that it's more than changing one line of code and gave up.

While the chance is now higher, with the new engine and all, I still stay sceptic until they show some proof.

Oculus getting credit for something already in use.
Spoiler

Would be cool for immersion, though. I found out my 960 is now considered VR capable. HOwever, I heard the Vive is a lot better.

I am not sure what the photo is but it looks to be an AR (Augmented Reality) device. VR (Virtual Reality) devices are similar yet different in that they totally cover the users eyes and prevent any vision outside of the VR helmet.

That's an F35 helmet displace. While normally it functions as AR (giving the normal HUD for a fighter, as well as flight data), it can also give a completely simulated image, allowing you to use the Distributed Aperture System ( a series of 6 cameras) to literallly look through the plane.

when was the last time YOU bought a 400.000$ helmet you can't use to play games since it doesn't get support from any mainstream developers?

:D

this generations VR headsets are kinda all the same
its more up to preference when it comes how they feel on you're head (think the Vive has the better straps)

I think the Oculus has a bit sharper picture while having a screen door effect
the Vive is a bit less sharp and has none

I think the PS VR one had some good reviews as well

but basically at the moment it's also like this:
you wanna sit down playing? get an oculus

wanna move around a bit, it's the Vive

Just wanted to say that I for one have absolutely 0 interest in VR as it stands. That being said however I hope the technology grows because I saw a Dutch university experiment with real time VR in a room set up that looked interesting. The possibilities are amazing but were not there yet.

To be honest I really dont like the idea of having to wear a screen on my face to play either. The cost is also too much for what little is on offer in my opnion.

It's something I haven't even considered.

Over the years I've felt games have less substance in them for the sake of Graphic quality, and while it's cool to have a fine looking games, it's the game play that keeps you logging in

O.K there are a few exceptions obviously *coughs*

If and I think it's a big if that V.R can bring better game play to a product, then I think it should be fully embraced, but currently I think it's just a hook to get people buying expensive hardware at the expense of quality game play.

I think it's still too expensive considering the limited use i'd get from owning one currently, especially when you factor in the cost of hardware on top.
I ran the VIVE VR performance test on my rig (Intel i7- 6700, GTX 1050 and 16GB Corsair memory) and it still said my system would only run around half of current VR games with satisfactory performance and some wouldn't even run at all since there's some limitation in VR software that refuses to run it unless your system meets the exact specs it requests.

Maybe later once it gets a better foothold but not worth it right now unless you want to be bleeding edge in regards to technology.

Edit: typo

The truth is the Price is down considering the amount of money they expect people to spend to support there game. Picking up a VR pack is only two top mechpacks in price. The second generation of VR is about to be release and it would be great if MWO was the title that was the must have product to showcase VR. Their is a mech based game thats going to steal all of MWO's thunder that is being made for VR. WHY NOT MWO!!!!!!!!!

Last time Russ talked about it the main issue was the engine. It's to slow to render twice the frames needed for VR . Maybe they will put it I to mw5.
