I agree to the OP. Who would play lights in the place they are on the PTS? Certainly not me. Too bad, because I mostly pilot Locusts at the moment. They are actually THAT bad that I am thinking about cancelling my Javelin preorder.

The problem is PGI over simplified it twice. The speed of your mech and your mech's turn rate should be tied to the engine So should it's accel, thought the mech's deceleration should be a stat. The torso twist though should not be tied to engine.

Yeah, i cant see me piloting lights or mediums as they are currently. Hopefully PGI will continue listening and fix. Alternatively I'm gonna be playing a lot more heavies going forward.

Interesting, as I predict the new skill tree will make the LCT nigh invincible. Maximise on mobility and armor/structure quirks. Didn't have the time to test it out yet. But tiny + tanky should be a nightmare to try to kill,...

well if your light & medium where large engined yes they did abit,
my UM, PNT, WLF, KFX, & ADR are more moble and happy now though, Posted Image

not even close. I compared my WLF-2 and the mobility when maxed on pts is abysmal compared to live. Turn speed, Torso Yaw Speed and Degree, Arms speed and degree, pitch, all nerfed. Accell/dcell too.

lol. You increase st and ct armor by 4 or 5 points. Enjoy your nigh invincibility with marginally worse manoeuvrability. Your turning speed is so bad that if you hit Center Legs on Torso you will do a nice big circle around a mech and you hardly converge on him, you just keep on going in circle and make you an easy target.

PTS skill tree and engine decoupling spells death to anything below 60 tons, get used to it.
the entire PTS should be thrown out. I dont give a dead rat about how fun russ thinks this will be, it will not go down well with the player base at all. time to save the cash and take it elsewhere.

I really hope they fix that light mech issue. Unplayable at current state. I´ve never complained too much through all the changes of the last years, even when there were some not so smart ones. But this kills it. Lights are my favourite class and if they stay where they are now on PTS I might consider leaving MWO.

This is going to sound a bit odd; but I find that my up-engined Jenners run *better* with these "nerfs." Better for me, anyway, since those torsos can get really, really *twitchy* when you can run 140-150 kph. Same for my Cicadas.

I can tell that my Griffin (1n) is a bit slower, but I'd hardly call it dead. Nor, oddly, my Clan units, *if* they're running with full pod synergy. (Since my Dire Pickle does, it wasn't affected nearly as much.)

Now there was one of my old 'Mechs that is really suffering baseline, and that's the Awesome, which (unskilled) is virtually immobile now. Virtually no vertical twist, and the horizontal twist is so slow that I'd have to backstep to the left just to speed up a defensive presentation of my left arm. It's almost decent skilled, but yeah.

I am in this boat too. I will cancel my Javelin pre-order if a patch places lights in this state.

It forces a change in the way lights are played is all.

No longer will lights be used to hunt down Assault mechs.

If you mean "they won't be played at all," then yes, you are right.

Seriously, what part of this do people not understand? Nobody plays MWO because they want to run around the edges of a fight, avoiding combat, and pressing "R" because scouting is "exciting!" And if Lights can't challenge assaults and the only way to fight is basically piling on weapons and armor because mobility is useless for defense and offense, the game will be even more skewed towards nothing but heavies and assaults.
