You still don't die from it.

Hard point placement has nothing to do with "the superiority of the weapons themselves." Sounds like you have more of an issue with the vulnerability of ISXL engines. If that is the case, then I agree with you.

You're right, it is more about the XL engine. But the tonnage difference between the IS weapons and Clan weapons makes IS XL more necessary to retain viable speed, and putting gauss on torso mounts with IS XL is riskier than with clans. The difference in slots is less of an issue, though it makes it hard to put anything else in that area on an IS mech whereas a clan mech could slide a PPC in with that gauss for example. Cataphract (another example) misses out on a nice high torso energy mount because it needs XL for speed and can't fit it with a gauss and the XL taking up those slots. Little things to be sure when compared to the base issue of IS XL, but they're connected and they add up.

EDIT: Yes I understand that many clan mechs have fixed slots in the torso that impose similar restrictions, and at least when it comes to the KDK/MAD-IIC/NTG that's not really a thing.

Here's a std warhammer with Gauss/2xERPPC that is quirked for it apart from no JJ's:

Response?

"Deal with it."

A win is a win.

A loss is a loss.

No matter how you achieve it, or lose it. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters or counts is victory or defeat.

Pop tarts annoying the hell out of you? Get in close, use cover, and don't expose yourself for too long at range.

It's too hot though (more so, can't be cooled), that's the issue... IS ERPPC for the DMG it does, horribly inefficient.

I tried to run a Quad ERPPC BLR 1D, I tried my hardest over a 15min trading engagement, I was thinking... This is gonna be 1300dmg easy, even though i'd struggled to strip any component plus it took forever to cool down.

End result? 846dmg. I can do better in half the time in a 6 ERL 1G and carve the field up easily. No splash just kills the IS ERPPC combined with IS heat... Had I used a WHK, even low mounts, I know I could've cranked 1500dmg in half the time as well as it just cools so much better and that splash, kill stuff EZ.

It has -10% heat gen, I've been messing around with it the last few days, it's not amazong by any means, but the velocity on both the gauss and ppcs feel really good. Nothing can come close to the Night Gyr laser heat sink quirk though for hot maps

Yeah 10% doesn't come close unfortunately to 6++ DHS. Not over time anyway

The only somewhat ok ppc poptart on IS-side is the BJ with velocity-quirk and well, it's a BJ...
PPC/Gauss doesn't work on IS-mechs. Dualgauss + 4 Medlas is fun on a warhammer but not that usefull against experienced players.
I even tried a Hellslinger-PPC-boat and it was just sad.
I like to take nonmeta-builds for a spin in FW (6 AC2 Mauler for the win!) but my locust does better than the PPC or Gauss/PPC builds I tried.

I couldn't imagine people who'd use Gauss/PPC potarting, woefully unskilled, COD kiddie twitch tards, who can't figure out that you can't feasibly trickshot with a mech. The only "hitscan" in the game is lazers, that you have to hold over a target, bunch of morons.
