What is wrong with you, are you even human? I cherish my 40 tonners (Viper and Cicada both).

They're still giant walking robots. If it looks cool, it's good to go in my book.
After all, any non-humanoids (chicken legs, digitrades, mechs with gun arms) in Battletech would not be able to stand up (different legs) or even move in reality (there is research into the physics of these things and as it turns out, you can't really do without the swinging arms counterblance at this scale). But Battletech without any of these mechs would not exactly be the same. No Warhammer, no Mad Cats, no Catapults, no Ravens, no Stalkers, no Jagermechs,.... Posted Image

That's probably why big reaction wheels were crammed into them. (the gyro in the CT)
Every question has an answer if your reach far enough for it. :P

I was a Cicada convert.

I used to not like them very much (mostly because I thought it looked like a house on chicken legs, but once I received my 2A (C), I was sold. It is just so fast and maneuverable, but still carries a respectable weapon load and had slightly better than flimsy armor :D.

Those traits will hopefully carry over to the Assassin as it is also 40 tons. The only thing that concerns me more than anything is the Assassin's profile. I think the Cicada works because it has a low profile. A humanoid mech is taller and seems easier to hit. It could make all the difference.

Looks like it has high mounts and a high cockpit, both of which usually translate to solid mechs. Complaining about the cockpit being too high makes me wonder if people forgot about the Archers already.

No.

You're not allowed to be happy until me and Juodas get our quads. Every mech and feature developed in this game that isn't a quad is just pushing back the development of quads even further. How despicably selfish of you.

Hey! I want quads too! I want my tank-on-stilts Goliath! It would probably be terrible, but I wants it! You and Juodas are not alone!

Bro...not trying to be harsh, but the last couple of posts, you've been the guy who showed up and had to be negative (here and with the Urbie Hero). Can't you be happy that some folks got stuff they wanted, even if it's not what you wanted or think is ideal? Quite a few folks have already theory crafted the ASN and are looking forward to it, including at least 1 comp tier player. Mind you, all that theory crafting can mean absolutely nothing if they deliver it and it's got terribly accel/decel, or massive legs that get shot off without even trying.

You're right management has made some pretty bad calls, and such, on occasion... which IMO is more reason we need some positives to look at. Am I biased that I got my Urbie Hero? Sure. And I'm stoked to get the Assassin again, for the first time since MW2 Mercs. Doesn't change some of the bad decisions PGI has made, no, but it does give me something to look forward to, regardless.

To be honest, theres not much to look forward to if they decide to keep on doing what they´ve been doing the last months. They keep on listening to the wrong people, people that cry and ***** on the forums and on twitter. People that play COD and Battlefield and god knows what FPS. This attitiude doesnt work with Battletech though. Advancing the timeline pleases the crybabys - but it wont help the game. This is why so many ppl I know and loved dropping with stopped spending money and/or playing- we just dont know what will happen. Nobody I talked to wants another BT: dark age game, but we´re slipping into that quite fast.
And this Russ guy lights up twitter and talks smack like hes the CEO of a major player in the game industry - which is sad and pathetic at the same time.

P.S.: the Urbie is a crap mech. Always has been, always will be. But the K-9 looks nice Posted Image

Funny...you see, I've felt that way the last couple of years, and feel they finally have a plan, for the first time since Closed Beta. TBH, it's the people whining against the skill tree I feel are the "wrong ones to listen to".... and I don't spend much time in CoD or Battlefield... but am a Battletech guy, first and foremost.

Also.. sorry man, anyone who doesn't understand the UMs greatness....well, I can't take the rest of the post seriously. Just sayin! Posted Image

Uh huh... circle of equals, says the "superior" warriors that need future tech mech crutches to fight 1v1. Ah well, by this summer it'll just be a memory of Smoking Jaguars, anyways.... :P

I still drive my Archer. I'm more concerned with keeping the character of a robot than if it'll Meta. If we just want to meta, we realyl don't need any more mechs released, ever. But if we are going to keep releasing Mechs... then I would prefer them to be correct. That's the price one pays for playing an IP based game, instead of a generic shooter.

*shrugs* (plus the lower canopy is nowhere near Archer low, or even Jager mech low)

Thats just the usual plot bs - Turtle Bay was a legitimate target, despite what the usual suspects say. I wanted to burn the novels after reading "Wolf Pack" as the story just went downhill from there. But yeah, not strong enough to challenge us so we got burned by a traitor in the books... I drive MADs, WHMs and LCTs every now and then and do okay in them and I am a mediocre pilot at best. We´ll be okay I guess but that is not the answer you spheroids wanna hear aight?
