I've spent past weeks collecting opinions concerning PTS - from every single post here and on reddit, Twitch chats, streamers themselves and Youtube folk.

Here i'll try to briefly express most common issues people have with the last build of the Skill Tree (+mobility) and its basics and provide some ideas of solutions of listed problems. So two sections there will be to make this freakin wall of text look smaller.
Although my English is not that great, i'll try to handle the task with no pictures as i find them more of a distraction when talking about mechanics.
This work has not been finished, but devs announced the closure of PTS and release on the Skill Tree on March, 21st, so i felt like any existing feedback must be provided ASAP.

Most common issues:

Possible solutions listed below will be aiming this goals:
1) Make MWO great again people disappointed in PTS satisfied while not taking away features that were appreciated by others.
2) Achieve most of customization and balance in the manner simple enough to be considered friendly for newer/casual players.
3) Do not contradict core goals listed by PGI. I feel like even if community had an overall agreement (not overly dominant) that Skill Tree must be completely different and serve completely different purposes, main goals must still have been determined by the company to serve as anchors in the development process.
4) Cover those of community's common ideas, that meet the above three items.
5) Make something new, make the gameplay feel different, diverse.

My take on the Skill Tree features:

I had a lot more ideas on how to improve the Skill Tree, including ways of monetization. Many of us have some more to offer, it seems, and that is another great thing about the community i felt in love with. Unfortunately, time is up, and we must present all we have to date. I post this with a spark of hope it will be noticed.

Cheers!

This is the best writeup of the skills tree I've seen, and more importantly his concerns seem to match mine in order of priority.

I'm generally a fairly optimistic person about this game, naysayers aside. But the amount of venom and hatred the skill tree has generated have me concerned. I just want this game to succeed, Please, PGI put some of the fears to rest.

I'm no IT expert but i think it would be a very good idea for PGI to to do an image back up of the appropriate file(s) because somethings going to hit the fan like it never has before. Not once ever int the entire of my life have I seen a company go out of its way to infuriate its customers and still be around a few months after, as i have said before, PGI staff had better be hoping they can spend cbills at the grocery store because the flow of real cash is about to stop.

Most of those points looks rather minor compared to the issue with the c-bills cost of the new system.

Costs are the easiest things to fix, its simply adjust the numbers. The system being overly complex can only be fixed at this time. costs can easily be adjusted later.

I should have probably included it in the issue section with a note that it is not related to the tree design or game mechanics. I just thought it is such an obvious thing and so easily fixed, and PGI is already concerned about it and trying to get the things right... So i didnt think of it that much and forgot to mention it, was in a bit of a rush (and disappointment Posted Image ) when saw the post about the "conclusion".

What do you think about my idea of zero cost unlocking nodes in the new tree that mirror the skills your mechs already have in the current one, like heat related, speed tweak and so on? Would it be enough of a help (and a fair compensation) for players with a big "number of mechs/number of modules" ratio?

Thanx! Worked really hard on it.
