Greetings all,

A few friends and myself are thinking about starting our own merc corp and a few of them don't live close by. I was also thinking about letting other people into this new found corp. That's where it get's a little hard. I want to make a website for this new corp and I would like to know if you guys could recommend a good place to do that. I've tried a few places in the past that let you set up your own page and things like that, but I wanted to know if anyone knew of a site that not only does guild hosting, but is geared to mechwarrior online. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks in advance guys.

I know there are quite a few Merc Corps that are using http://www.enjin.com/ for site hosting. Even with the free plan the pages look professional with only a few ads.

I've used enjin for both WoW and Starwars, and I've even used facebook once as well. I wanted to know if there were any that were decidacted to MWO yet. If not, i'll most likely use enjin again.

I don't think there will be one dedicated to MWO, it does not make much sense for a company to limit themselves to such a small market. they will just make build a modular web experience that allows it's users to customise and tailor the site to their own needs. that can be re-skinned for any game, thus giving you a much wider market. I've never used enjin as I would just code a site myself. But enjin is useful and requires little time investment. If you know a little bit about web coding it's also not hard to run say a simplemachines forum/portal site or even throw up a Drupal or Joomla site and just deck it out with custom templates and mods. At the end of the day, there are lots of options. Go with whatever suits your time / skill / cost requirements.

Thanks John,
I didn't mean to imply that a guild hosting site would do just one game, but rather have the options to support MWO, or at the very least will support the game when it comes out. From what I have seen of enjin they have a MW4 templets and support for that game, and I just wanted to build a page to help with that. I suppose I could just build my site as you suggested but I am far too lazy for that and I honestly don't think it will get used that often, but maybe I would open it up to general recruting and maybe a site like that would get more use. In either case thanks for the info.

As a community leader of an FPS gaming community for over 4 years I thought I would add a bit to assist you in this venture. Most Official Sites are never free sites...to restricting on what you can do with them. Web hosts like Host Gator are fairly inexpensive to set up and run and you can choose your CMS (Joomla, Drupal, Nuke etc) to do more and have more freedoms with your site. As with any Website security is paramount, you have to protect your members. The list goes on and on about running a community site but simply put its hard work. You will also need a form of communication for your unit or VOIP( Teamspeak, Mumble, Mohawk, Ventrilo) communications. There is even Xfire, and its free.
Have a meeting and find out who has knowledge and hopefully work in the fields of coding, web security, graphics, webdesign, and lastly administration. Use their abilities to your units advantage, and be not just another site but a Merc Corp site that its members could be proud of. If I can assist in this venture feel free to PM me and I will gladly assist as I have done for hundreds of other community sites that still are up and running over the years.
