It would be hilarious because it has the speed of a Mist Lynx on a 55-ton chassis along with having the pod space of an Ice Ferret, but the mech will have a hard time packing enough guns for its size. This is also harmed by the fact that the majority of its weapon hardpoints reside in the arms, so you'll lose a huge chunk of your firepower very quickly.

Yes it's fast, very fast, but it has less pod space than the Shadow Cat! Yes it has Hard Points for days, but no pod space to fill them! 13t of pod space in it's bone stock configuration, and it's under armoured at only 83% coverage roughly, that's 1.5t under armoured.... 11.5t of pod space when at an efficient level of armour coverage... So that's tonnage to do laser vomit, but not enough tonnage for the DHS to let you laser vomit...

It could still possibly get in but the engine decoupling is not going to do it any favors because it will lose some of the advantages that the big cXL385 used to give it. The decoupling impacted the Stormcrow much more than any other Medium Mech that I tested on PTS and the Black Lanner has a bigger engine yet. Of course, you would not be able to compare it against itself like you could the Stormcrow so maybe you just would not realize how agile it might have been under the old system.
I would still like an ECM Medium with the kind of speed that the Lanner brings to the game. What hardpoints that it has are almost cockpit level but due to the size of its engine it is going to be down a bit on firepower compared to the top Mediums like the Hunchback IIC, Huntsman and Nova SPL build.

I mean do clans need ANOTHER good mech running around causing chaos, I take a few mediocre mechs here and their , so we don't just have constant power creep that the clans keep putting out.

Yes. But in the 40-ton slot. We need good lighter mechs, considering we do not have a 20-tonner in the game as of yet. Pouncer or Lobo would be solid picks, and the Arctic Wolf would be an extremely, extremely good option as well.
The Black Lanner, though? Good lord, is it a steaming pile of surat dung. It has practically no redeeming qualities. I say practically, because that singular version of the art of the mech looks bad ***. Every other rendition of it is... battle chicken.

LOL! I never noticed before, but you're right, it has less pod space than either of those two mechs....

It wouldn't be such a big deal if we had actual Guardian ECM, not NullSig+Angel ECM....
Guardian can't do half the stuff our in game ECM does....

NullSig works in a way that you cannot target the mech caring it after a cretin range (6 hexes or 180m)... at least it used to... now it looks like it makes medium range a +3 to hit and long range a +6 to hit... that's a serious down grade for something that geneates 10 heat/turn....

Sure I want it..how often do you see me actually stump for it.....?
(And I am under no delusion that it ISN'T a Bad Robot... but I think it's less bad than the Bad Lanner)
Also it has way more art confirming it to be cool looking...compared to ...one pic for the Lanner? (The rest looking like butt)
