While, technically speaking, Lucian Carns piloted a Shadow Cat Prime in Operation Bulldog, I would love to see this be the hero configuration. Or at the very least that left torso would be very much desired in the Shadow Cat:

This, right here, is the hero Shadow Cat I would like to see:

In short, it is a miniaturized Timberwolf Prime, minus the machine guns, significantly squishier, and with MASC. All the lasers were dropped down one grade, and the LRMs knocked down to 10's. The left torso is equipped with both an energy hardpoint and a missile hardpoint, while both arms have two energy hardpoints.

The name of the game? Sidegrades. What does this provide? Competitive options.

For starters, there is currently no real choice with the left torso. It's either take an ECM, or take ballistics, which can be taken in an arm, anyways. Outside of a 6 MG lulz build, that just isn't a particularly great trade for the ECM, as you do not have the pod space to take advantage of multiple larger autocannons. Having a 1E1M side torso not only opens up options for builds, but provides a solid, reliable alternative to an ECM side torso, providing credible options for a mech with its limited pod space.

With the arms, either you currently take a 1B right arm, 3B left arm (see issue with multiple ballistics above), 1E arms with ER quirks, or 1E1M arms. The ballistic arms might as well only have one B hardpoint for all the good it does with larger caliber weapons than MGs. This leaves the 1E arm for long range sniper builds, which are low damage output setups that only work if you are ignored for most of the game, or the 1E1M arms, which are ideal for brawlers or an LRM support configuration. If it was provided with a 2E arm option without quirks attached to them, it would provide a sidegrade to the default higher damage 1E1M arm, and an option to trade quirks for a set of extra lasers, allowing for a more mid-range skirmisher configuration.

When it comes to hero mechs, especially Omnis, I do not like to change three things:
  • Stock Armor
  • Hardwired Equipment
  • Engine Size
In my opinion, a good hero Omni does not offer direct pay to win, but should provide interesting options to the player. In the above example, the 2E arms would be a side grade to 1E1M, as the missile arms are better for brawling or lurming, whereas the laser arms would be more suited to a mid-range skirmishing configuration. That Left Torso, being a 2 hardpoint section, composed of both 1E and 1M, would create a real hard choice for pilots regarding the ECM side torso. Either you take the stealth and give up usable hardpoints for a mech its size, or you damn the ECM and take an extra missile or energy hardpoint. In a long range build the ECM might be beneficial, but in a brawl that extra missile hardpoint might be useful enough to give up the godbox. At mid-range, it's a possible tossup between ECM or an extra energy hardpoint.

"Swift and aggressive" was a typical trait of all Smoke Jags, it wasn't unique to just Hang Mehta. Hell, it was a personality trait attributed to many of the Clans. There is no lore to support her ever running a light.

You are right on the Jaguar mindset of being swift and aggressive, but I only listed Hang because I couldn't find a clan pilot who used a Mist Lynx.

Yeah, that's fair. Though, I personally think that'd be a situation more suited to PGI creating a non-canon hero vs re-purposing another lore based character. That said, Star Captain Marilen (305?-3058) of Tau Galaxy's 101st Attack Cluster piloted a Mist Lynx. The only information I can find on her (not sure it's accuracy) is that she was captured by the Northwind Highlanders on Wayside V and apparently committed suicide rather than be prisoner (Impetus of War). Presumably bondsref but I foolishly got rid of all my novels a long time ago so I can't check it.
