My favourite MechWarrior music themes will always be those of MW2, MW2: Ghost Bear Legacy and MW2: Mercenaries.
Does somebody know if it is legal to use those soundtracks for MWO streaming on Twitch? I would love to play these songs but i am afraid it could be considered a copy right violation.

If I am developing a new Mechwarrior or a new robot game, I would lock Hiroyuki Sawano (Kill La Kill, Attack on Titan OSTs) to do the OST.

Entirely too showy, that. BattleTech is gritty, it's not grand, it's a street fight in a huge Knight-armor. Showy is all wrong for BattleTech.

the best game soundtrack ever i still think goes to quake 2. though i do have fond memories of the mechwarrior soundtracks, though i really only played mech 2 and 4 and their expansions. i also liked the descent 2 redbook soundtrack (the midi soundtrack much less so, but every level could have its own soundtrack i remember sticking a midi rendition of master of puppets on one of my crappy levels).

i like the self titled thorns album. gritty industrialized black metal. goes great with a myriad of games.

Gundam can be extremely gritty but its also grand, and Mobile Suit pilots are very much like knights in their post humanist universe. Battletech is also both gritty and grand. Large overlap in both their themes. Techno with opera. Just listen to the older Mechwarrior game music like the ones posted here before like Mechcommander. That sort of music is also overplayed with so many SF and space games.

Yet I don't find both Battletech and Gundam as gritty and dark compared to other SF depictions. Armored Core is even darker and bleaker than both but its music --- done by FromSoft's own inhouse band --- is a combination of opera, symphony, rock, grunge and garage. AC's music remains distinctive over the years, there is nothing like it.




This one is a classic. Just the sound of it means you are about to meet one of the worst bosses in Armored Core history. From AC Ninebreaker.




I also like brutal dubstep for robot combat video. Sounds like Optimus Prime sitting in his crapper. I was going about looking for NCS music that might suit robot game videos.

Gets me in a destructive mood for shooting enemy mechs!
