In World of Warcraft you can have more than one specification per character. (Or at least it was so the last time I played back in WotLK). As I recall it was a one time purchase but obviously it doesn't need to be here.

In this system you had skill points corresponding to your level for your two specs. You didn't need to level up or anything to put points in a second spec.

I propose giving players the ability to acquire "skill points" for two, maybe more, specs in MWO's skilltree per variant. I believe this would give individual variants more mileage and allow ppl to have more than one loadout for each mech.

For example, ppl could have a tryhard spec and a goofing around/experimental spec.

Thoughts? Opinions?

PGI would probably rather have you buy duplicate variants instead. ;)

Tweet to Russ just incase.

Yeah, it's a bit late for new ideas, sorry.

And as EB said, this is all about encouraging you to pay actual cash for Mechs, including duplicates, in return for the ability to spec those different Mechs out differently.

You also have to pay for WoW base game, it's expansions, each new one now being $50, used to be $40. Plus a $15 monthly sub. Are you prepared to pay for swappable specs? I wouldn't put it past them.

Worst case scenario they let us have two for free and two more for MC

Also I tweeted Russ & Paul, if anyone else wants to pitch in that could help.

I doubt they'd even give us one without monetization. They want to make money. "Why get another variant? Pay $5 to get a second spec!"

Well perhaps it's too late to make it in the initial release but I'd bet there will be new versions as we go.

Also that's probable but it's just conjecture.

You need to tone down on the salt or take take off the tin foil hat.

I'm being realistic. Do you really need more than two specs? Are you willing to pay for a third? I might for a second spec. But how many specs are you realistically going to use on one mech? Especially if a variant has a better configuration for it.

Generally speaking I find a build I like and stick to it so one or two would be enough for me. However there are people that like to experiment.

I'm not saying this is perfect but it's better than the current setup

wow sucks as a comparison, everytime they change skills they reset the trees, must be fun if you had 100 characters to respec them all. But then there aren't that many classes (given each class resembles every mech) to make you annoy as much as MWO

make skill trees mechbased, each mech an own one.
make all skills unlockable but only a specific points spent for usage so people cna respeck at any time after unlocking skills.

Don't get hung up on wow. All I'm saying is allow us multiple specs per variant.

I agree with those saying if this was an option, it would likely cost MC - just like additional Drop Decks.

Not saying this is a bad thing, it just becomes another factor in the Mech Bay / duplicate 'mech / time saved / MC spent equation.

hope they do have the option for multi spec option. Lord of the Rings Online (Lotro) has that option. For instance, a Champ could have a single-target DPS build, an AOE build, or a tank build, all by clicking buttons.

Well the skill tree has been delayed so perhaps this idea can become part of it moving forward.
