It's official. We will be getting the Light Fusion Engine. I've been looking forward to this for a long time, in fact I even know of one of my current Mechs that could use one.

It'd just be nice if they'd also buff the IS XL and standard to not be left behind. Would it be hard to give the IS XL some performance bonus and the standard extra structure to all torsos? Then apply half of both those bonuses to the LFE and reduce the side torso loss penalty on C-XL so it's all gravy.

Well all Hunchback pilots are going to be laughing all the way to the bank now... the new go-to build for them is going to be something along these lines for the 4G

I have so many builds for this. But, for brevity, just know that you can, in fact, fit 18x DHS, an LFE 375, and 52-damage worth of large and Medium lasers into a 75-ton 'Mech.

But rather than Medium Lasers, why not use LPPC's... yes I know 3t vs 1t, but no beam duration and a longer range......

I know my Warhammers are going to take LFE's and HPPC's... this is going to be glorious....

LFE is a godsend, good many of my build were/are crying for it.

Some of my others will still use STD as their ST(s) are filled with weapons and my zombie mechs still want to zombie.

I was only pointing out that LFEs (with Light Ferro) basically let you build an IS laser-vomit TBR in terms of tonnage, speed, damage, cooling efficiency, and almost range. It's neat.

I'm excited. Since the clans dropped I barely touch my IS mechs. This is going to breathe new life into my mech stable.

Every mech that doesn't have a CT and/or head weapon should have one of these engines. There's no real downside for it unless you're starved for slots.

I'm very happy for the Light Engine. I know I'll be swapping for these on ALL my IS mechs. There are a few exceptions, mechs with 2 or 3 laser hardpoints in the CT and/or head, if it only has 1 energy, or only missile/ballistic hardpoints, I'll still make the engine swap.

While it will be a bonus, LFE is still a pale comparison to clan XL, something is better than nothing I suppose.

Keep in mind, IS getting new stuff isnt necessarily going to solve IS/Clan weapon balance.
