Relying on punch and kick from slow, underarmored Light Mech is not a formula I ever chose to pursue for success in TT. People like it because "BFG" and it looks patently, blatantly Manga inspired "oversized" gun ridiculous.
Of course, in MWO we would get...either a teeny tiny gun..or worse.. a long cylindrical torso piece that they lego mech a tiny gun barrel to the end of.

I'd take it! Wouldn't care about the Blood Asp, and tbh, Wasp ain't my jam, but Stinger and Novacat? Sold!

I mean once you lose the Gauss you don't have a lot of options, that said, the Pein Hammer is a wonderful little brawling light for the BV so being slow isn't necessarily a huge issue so much as positioning (granted at the point the Hollander is stripped, it is better to just use it as a distraction to take the heat away from something else).

ugh.. Black Lanner... 11.5t of pod space on a 55t mech when you get it fully armoured.... that just isn't going to end well... ooo it hase ECM, ECM can't help you that much anymore... it lacks the tonnage to effectively use cSPL or cERSL with DHS... it lacks tonnage to take advantage of the massive number of hard points it can have... and frankly it looks like a duck wearing a diaper!

Fire Moth isn't going to happen, still the speed issue according to Russ.
Wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with Osiris, Crusader/Thanatos, Black Lanner, Nova Cat at this point, judging by the poll and the assuming they decide to release mechs in weight classes that weren't represented in the Civil War pack for respective factions.

And I'd prefer the Thanatos because it is more unique and would support a variety of viable loadouts. AND it was in MW4.

Most Memorable mission of them is the escort Steiner Cargo Mission and the Stealth Mission against steiner in MW4 Mercs. A force to be reckoned with.

And I wouldn't begrudge it for showing up, it actually has a chance at being decent to good, unlike the Uziel which will be bad to mediocre...

I actually enjoy the Thanatos and Crusader. Because of MW4 fanboidom, I expect the Thanatos to be a shoe in, like the mkII and Uzi. The Crusader though is a classic, very versatile heavy, that has never been given a chance. Given our recent thumbing of our noses at HG, I would love to see it have it's shot.
Osiris is hands down my Light mech of choice, of remaining options. Always loved how it looked and played.

Last I checked, the IS and Clan portions are separate, and TBH, so are the individual mechs.
It's not possible just based on what's available for "equivalent" on both sides, every pack.
For me, I'd rather see a Stinger/Vulcan pack, but that's just being greedy!

Osiris
Fafnir
Nova Cat
Blood Asp
If PGI decided they wanted to release mechs in classes that were NOT in the Civil War pack, it would look like:
Osiris
Crusader (although the poll is close enough, they may decide to do the Thanatos instead, because it is more "modern")
Nova Cat
Black Lanner
NOVA CAT CONFIRMED!!!

TBH, always used a Raven for the Stealth Mission. In and out.
The Escort...usually Mediums, on the first one, but the second one, that one the Thanatos was a good choice. So was the Victor though, which I preferred.

Anyway. I want the Viking assault mech for IS. ALL the missiles! With some variation too.
PGI need to make up some variants propably..
Description
The Viking began production shortly after the Beowulf in a joint effort by the Free Rasalhague Republic and ComStar. The 'Mech is intended to take over in the role that has been traditionally filled by the Bombardier. The Viking is built on a GC Type 1 Endo Steel chassis and powered by a GM 270 fusion engine, giving the 'Mech a top speed of 54.0 km/h. The Viking is protected by fifteen and a half tons of GC Slab armor with CASE, providing the 'Mech with good armor protection as well as protection against ammunition explosions. To dissipate heat from the Viking's impressive arsenal, the 'Mech has ten double heat sinks. The Viking has proven itself a powerful assault and fire support 'Mech capable of putting out almost twice as much firepower as the 'Mech it replaces.[5]
Weapons and Equipment
The Viking has a singular mission of long-range missile fire support. To do this, the Viking carries two Shigunga LRM-15 launchers and two Shigunga LRM-20 launchers, all of which are linked to an Artemis IV fire control system for increased missile accuracy. For close combat, the Viking has two torso mounted ChisComp 32 Small Lasers and four Sperry Browning Machine Guns for anti-infantry combat.[5]
Variants
- VKG-2G Intended to act as a front line assault 'Mech, the 2G variant of the Viking has all of the weapons stripped out and two more double heat sinks have been added in addition to two more tons of armor. The 2G carries as its primary weapons an LB-X Autocannon/10 which is capable of firing both standard and cluster rounds as well as a Gauss Rifle, giving the 2G a powerful long range punch. For medium to close range combat, the 2G has a Large Pulse Laser and three Medium Pulse Lasers. To protect itself from advanced enemy electronic warfare systems, the 2G has a Guardian ECM Suite. BV (1.0) = 1,878[2][6], BV (2.0) = 2,152[7]
- VKG-3A This is a artillery version of the Viking produced during the Jihad. This variant has an Advance Tech Arrow IV Launcher mounted on its right arm actuator. The Viking's LRM launchers are replaced by a pair of 7-Tubed Multi-Missile Launchers guided by Artemis IV Firecontrol for each launcher. The launchers are supplied by 3 tons of ammunition while the larger Arrow launcher has 2 tons. CASE is used to protect both ammunition bins from destroying the 'Mech. As far as secondary weaponry goes, the 'Mech has a pair of Medium Pulse Lasers and single Small Pulse Laser in the torsos. The Fusion Engine is replaced with a Compact Fusion Engine to help protect the 'Mech from stray shots to its center torso. The 'Mech is equipped with 11 Double Heatsinks. BV (2.0) = 1,876[8]
- VKG-3W The 3W is a Word of Blake variant that was reconfigured at the refitted factories on Hall. It strips the weapons and replaces them with four Krupp MML-9s that allow the Viking access to both SRM and LRM munitions and with seven tons of ammunition, it is almost guaranteed to have both. The close-support weapons were replaced with a pair of Skobel "Little 20" Light AC/2s and a pair of Hovertec Streak SRM-2s that seem ancient by comparison. This variant is protected by seventeen tons of armor, but the Blakist refit does not add any heat sinks. Of course, all the weapons are aided by the inclusion of a C3i Computer. BV (2.0) = 1,778[9]

Plot twist, I would prefer Stinger/Wasp-Thanatos-... over Osiris-Crusader... if that helps.
At least the other two would be a 20 tonners with JJs which is somewhat new, and we have a decent selection of 30 tonners already.
