Ah. I was comparing the Gyr in Live vs the Gyr in Test, however, where there was a mild improvement. I wouldn't ever actually expect the Gyr to handle like TBR, so I didn't bother to compare those two directly.

Yeah I looked at the agility numbers themselves to compare (there were accel/decel rates and turn rates and twist rates, not by feel). Also, the PTS quirk PDFs had an "Engine to tonnage ratio" for each mech, which is what is used to determine the baseline agility stats for the mech. So you can see how the Night Gyr had lower "Engine to Tonnage ratio" (ETR) than a Timber, and I believe a Timber had a lower ETR than an Orion or Black Knight (can't remember 100% but you get the idea), they were supposed to give mechs with agility quirks higher ETRs so they would have higher baseline agility stats.

Similarly, the SNV in Test felt a lot better than the SNV in Live for the same reason. Became a little more fluid in its mobility.

The B, C, and Boiler ended up with XL 315 agility, so that's actually an agility nerf. The -3 probably broke even from quirks, the 1 has XL360 agility, which helps its twist/turn but it already had quirks for accel/decel, and the -A probably more or less broke even from its quirks.

Referencing Engine to Tonnage Ratio from here: http://static.mwomer...an%20Quirks.pdf

Multiply ETR by Mech tonnage and you get the engine size of which the agility level is derived. So a Boiler with an ETR of 3.5 * 90 = 315, so 90 tonner with XL315 mobility. Which is of course less than the XL325 agility that most go for.

Which to be fair, MW4 introduced some interesting and unique looking mechs (outside the MKII) so I don't really find the MW4 "worshipping" to be an issue.

Some poll's current front-runners appeared in MW:4, but they were not introduced by it, like Nova Cat and Fafnir. If MW:4 helps their popularity, fine. That is good.
I also don't mind Mechs actually introduced via MW:4 if they actually bring something to the table, like the Osiris.

I am just a little less happy when MW:4-nostalgia pushes bad Mechs without much lore to the front, and when good and important Mechs are ignored simply because they were not in MW:4.
The Uziel e.g. is not featured in a single Civil War novel (or BC story, scenario pack...), yet it is part of the so-called Civil War Mech-pack simply because of MW:4. There would have been much, much better choices for an IS medium both in terms of lore and in terms of performance.

Sure, but plenty of bad mechs with plenty of lore are pushed to the front too......nostalgia hampers choice either way, whether it be for lore or for previous MW entries.

Are you sure about that?

I could swear I saw an Uziel in one of the novels I just re-read. I just finished Operation Excalibur recently.

What all FCCW novels have you read?

That much is true.

I have read all the FCCW-era novels (BattleTech and MechWarrior) and I recently searched them for certain Mechs. I am very sure the Uziel is not there, but as usual I am open to evidence to the contrary. Just go ahead. :)

The Night Gyr on the PTS would handle like a Night Gyr with an XL280 on live, so it actually did get nerfed. The skill tree probably helped make up for that some as far as your feeling goes, but it definitely got a nerf.

Just goes to show you how what is marketed as something to help low engine capped mechs can actually end up hurting them...

Honestly, I'd be hard pressed to decide what I'd want more. The Fire Falcon or the Locust IIC. LCT-IIC would have the benefits of being a battlemech regarding engine/armor/internal minmaxing potential, but the Fire Falcon moves at a pretty good clip to begin with, and benefits from omni-pods. Both can carry a heavy payload, though I feel like the LCT-IIC-1 would run way too hot outside of boating Micro Pulse.

The correct choice is Piranha....

12 MG's or 12 Micro pulse
Fast speed
advantages of being a Battlemech....

I dunno, I think the 6 cSPL LCT-IIC would be a phenomenal choice, personally.

It would be, but the Piranha would offer the Clans something that they currently lack, a 20t mech.

Nah too short range IMO, not enough DPS/heat efficiency for that range bracket.

A certain someone keeps slandering my poll as a biased mess favoring the MW4 era entirely because the Nova Cat is absolutely steamrolling the Rifleman IIC. Its only a matter of time before we get #ThePollsWereWrong posts.

Make sure you vote in the poll if you haven't done so already (select all that apply).

Rifleman is cool but the nova cat is way cooler.

If people have a problem with that then thats a personal problem.

NO NO NO Its a BIASED POLL PROBLEM! Mechs from MW4 are winning a lot of categories so CLEARLY the poll is biased towards MW4 mechs. Rifleman IIC should be the next heavy!

35 vs 40 damage

30 vs. 28 heat

405 vs 270 meters.

Hmmmm. Depends on the agility and beam duration. If it moves like the Commando and has at worst the same duration as the ER, it could be pretty potent even at those ranges.

Would rather boat cHSL, though.

Hey I agree with your post! Now sarcasm aside,

The real reason why I want to see the remaining MW:2 mechs to get into the game (and so happen to have the RFL-IIC before the WHM-IIC since the clan bracket is flooded with assaults) is because I don't want PGI to simply overlook and favor newer chassis over the older mechs that should have been in the game already. Not that I'm trying to start a flame war and QQ about it because my favorite mech in battletech didn't get selected in another pack. I just want PGI to complete the series since we have the Marauder IIC now. That means only 3 mechs left to go and the entire classic MW:2 mech list will be complete.

I pointed out the bias simply because you forgot many mechs during the beginning of this poll. Have I not mentioned the Rifleman IIC someone else would have. It's in second place in the heavy bracket so that is more than enough reason to be happy and (hopefully) catch PGI's attention when Tina submits this list. Am I entitled to the mech being in MW:O as so many others feel about their favorite mechs? Nope. Do I think it would make a great addition to MW:O, drop decks in CW and would it be a decent sell for PGI? I believe so.
