I can't believe I actually have to make this a topic... but I'm literally facepalming in each MK II topic.

It was even worse when the Origins IIC pack was first announced. So many people were unable to comprehend the notion that a Clan mech could be anything other than an Omnimech. Many facepalms were had during that time.

Totally agree.
I have seen multiple Battemech/Omnimech confusions in every Mad Cat MKII thread.

I guess it really would help if the sales page labeled things better too. Just shows how little people actually know about some of the mechs in the game. Yet they still post their opinions about it based off the wrong facts.

Ya I didn't have any idea when 2c mechs came out. Pgi didn't really go I to what it was . Not all of us know the lore

Even now in the store it doesn't list what it is. I only know because it lists a max engine bigger than what comes with it

A lot of people are going to be confused over this one. The Mad Cat MkII was an Omnimech in its MW4 iteration, and MW4 is where the 'Mech was first introduced to BT lore (along with, IIRC, the Argus, Uziel, and Thanatos, but correct me if I'm wrong about any of those). It was only retconned into a standard Battlemech when it was canonized and carried over into the tabletop game. Many, if not most of the people who play this game haven't delved into the lore or TT; their only experience with BT is through the PC games... and since the only other PC game to date featuring the Mad Cat MkII was MW4, I can see where the confusion comes from. They've only ever seen that chassis as an Omnimech, and weren't aware that the MW4 original is now considered apocryphal.

In every Clan debate, there's always one person that screws this up when it comes to Clan XL balance.

Seriously, they probably haven't figured out that all the IIC mechs (that have been released so far) are NOT omnimechs.

I mean, im no TT geek and i checked that page. Some of the mech pages clearly label a battlemech or an omnimech. I scanned through that page and see nothing. Is there some battletech nerd word in there that translates to battlemech? Give me your wisdom oh wise one.

The first clue is Omni's have a letter designation, Clans use this method in TT:

Timber Wolf:
Timber Wolf Prime
Timber Wolf Alt. A
Timber Wolf Alt. B
Timber Wolf Alt. C
Timber Wolf Alt. D

IS Omni's use this:

Templar:
TLR1-O (Prime)
TLR1-OA (Alt. A)
TLR1-OB (Alt.

Now to brake down the code used for the Templar... TLR1 is the base of the Chassis, the -O means Omnimech.


IS Battlemechs use:

Battlemaster:
BLR-1G
BLR-1C
BLR-1Gb (SLDF Royal variant of the 1G)

Clan Battlemechs use this:

Marauder IIC

Marauder IIC
Marauder IIC 2
Marauder IIC 3


Does this make sense?

Just to add a little confusion, PGI messed up by giving some of the IIC mechs a letter designation rather than keeping with the number designations.

Omnimechs use letters, Battlemechs use numbers(for clan at least). Class dismissed.

I'd be ecstatic if they brought it closer to the simulator roots for MW5... as it stands I'm setting the expectation bar so low that they would need to be an subatomic particle to slide under it....
