Hmm. Interesting. I guess Im an Average Joe Cheapskate mixed in with a bit of completionist, mixed build anti metatryhard and semi-lorist.

Only two types of player. Those that pay and those that don't. That is all that really matters.

Mark Twains - try to use statistics to support their arguments but end up lying due to their complete lack of comprehension of observation bias and cherry picking.

Don't forget "The Triggered". Which perceive anything PGI does as an insult to them especially. Because they're not listening enough!

The Tired One: They've been on the forums since before the game was out of Closed Beta, built their expectations up too high, and when the game finally came out they... Began to lose hope. Slowly, with every patch update, match, and change to the engine. They take long breaks away, longing for the day that the Mech game they want comes out. But as the years press on they start becoming more and more tired, of everything. If they do poorly in a match, do not insult them. They just want it to end.

They can't be bitter, they're beyond that now. They're just waiting for this game to finally come to it's conclusion, or find a way to finally pull themselves out of it.

The lore purist stock 'mech player - The answer to any issue with the game is to use table top rules and make everyone drive stock

I run lore builds almost exclusively, but I don't think others should be forced to use 'em. Just they're more fun than anything else for me.

My take:

1. The casual LURMist (AKA the "Beerwarrior")

Profile: Sits at spawn and frantically spams LURMs, no matter what range.

Famous quote: "In one hand my mouse, in the other my beer, a perfect friday evening! "

Famous last words: "LRM 2000 here, locks plz"

Where to find: Polar Derp(LURM)lands

Success rate: low

2. The bored YOLOSWAG-Brawler

Profile: Gets bored after 10 Minutes of initial trading at 1000+. Goes all in. Sometimes takes one with him but dies horribly to enemy LURMs anyway.

Famous quote: "Awww, **** this!"

Famous last words: "OMG the LURMs!" or "****** sniper team hiding all day!"

Where to find: Frozen City

Success rate: medium

3. The Kodiak dual PPC + dual Gauss Enthusiast

Profile: When you see him, you know, there is exactly one chassis and one build he thinks it's worth his time. On a good day tho, he takes out his Night Gurk. Special time!

Famous quote: (he doesn't talk, he kills)

Famous last words: ...

Where to find: Everytime and everywhere at optimal range when you sit in your favourite light/medium and think it's a good time to peek.

Success rate: He knows only one rate, his kill rate. ("Success rate" would imply there is a chance to lose. So no)

The wannabe white knights: They want nothing more than for PGI to give them a reason to laud their game, their company and their decisions, but after so much disappointment the only positive posts they can come up with are about customer support and Alex's art.

That's called a Bittervet.

Or maybe a Fallen Knight?

Neither, those labels are for the ones that have finally come over to the dark side.

Okay, I will play along...

Mic MacArthur- the person on comms who believes their plan is the only plan and when it fails it is the one or two people's fault that they single out.

Anyone who knows history will understand why this is an appropriate moniker.

Zero #$%&s Given:Not in faction warfare, not in a unit, not on voice comms, frequently not sober. If there was a single player game with big stompy robbits that ran on modern hardware, he'd be playing it instead. ZFG is better than a potato but not particularly good either; he'll hold his own in a semi-cohesive pugswarm but don't expect him to carry anything heavier than a beer bottle.

I'll be the first to admit, that with the exception to the "not in FW, Not in a Unit and Not on comms" aspect.....sounds alot like me.

Woof, Woof

The socialist: cant really play the game well himself, but surrounds himself with good players in group queue and somehow gets them to come back often.

Totally not me btw.

Seriously.

The Sunday Build Expert: The guy who always dies early and then complains about how bad your build is while he spectates.
If his build is so good why is he dead already.
