Namely, he's running away from the battle.

A lot of noobs are completely oblivious to the fact that they're getting shot in the back. This probably counts as "bigger problems" but I suspect a lot of that rear armor gets used up in tier 5.

Correct.

Some people have been in T1 so long they forget.

If they are oblivious to the fact that they are getting shot in the back, then no amount of rear armor will help them. It's a part of a larger issue, which is a lack of situational awareness.

There are people in T1 that will stand there and let you core them out from the rear simply because they do not pay attention.

Frankly, that much rear torso armor is wasteful, even for a noob.

Uh-oh, someone's butt-hurt and playing the tier game now, lol.

While I agree that no amount of rear armor can solve the issue, I think having more at least will help them along a bit. Maybe keep them alive a little longer, have a little more fun, whine a little less about how Locusts are OP...

I don't know how much the thing will actually have, and I don't know how much is an appropriate amount for tier 5, but having more than four rear armor seems like a real good choice for a "noob friendly" 'mech to me, so I don't see it being a problem.

Wow, I'm fairly surprised at the number of people who have come out to argue in favor of such wasteful and useless rear armor values.

And, for the record, I never advocated that the should have 4 armor. I would say that 12 rear armor is suitable for a complete noob. However, putting words in other people's mouths is ever a favorite tactic that people use here on the forums, so I suppose I should not be surprised to encounter it on this thread too.

In case you're one of those that doesn't bother to properly educate himself on an issue before weighing in on it, the trial Mech in question is a KDK with 28 points of rear side torso armor and 41 points of rear center torso armor. The designer himself admitted that he forgot to adjust the armor values. Frankly, I don't care who you are or what your skill level is, 41 points of rear torso armor is ludicrously too much. You only need that much if you're running away from the enemy like the French Atlas here: https://mwomercs.com...s-build-inside/

And, for the record, I never said you did. I think we would both agree that around 4 rear armor is what most people put on their Kodiaks (and 'mechs in general) and that it's probably insufficient for a new player, yes?

I don't think you can really have too much rear armor for babby's first mechwar, though. Another 5 or 10 front armor is probably not going to make a significant difference in someone's first drop, but another 5 or 10 rear armor could help a lot. So whether it's 12, 17, or 22, I don't see that mattering too much, just so long as it's not 4.

The point of the trial 'mech is to provide something for a brand new person to play, and at that level of play, I don't see "didn't frontload enough armor" as a big issue. Or really an issue at all.

Sure, I agree concerning 5 or 7 armor. That would raise it from your figure of 4 up to 9 or 11. But 41? For real? That's just stupid.

Resent it till the cows come home. Your stats are public and LRMs are bad.

I could care less about my stats and yours or for that matter anyone's.
Just so you know.
