Nothing grinds my gears more than seeing an ACH or a LCT on the enemy team. HSR with hitscan works fine on them regardless of ping; projectiles, however...

Hitting them with a projectile isn't that hard, you just have to use the right weapons...... *slowly reaches for the keys to my LB40X Hunchie IIC*

Look. Using any form of spread weapon is *bad* against them. You need to put them down in one very hard hit to a single component, preferably a ST for a quick XL death. Anything else, and they'll be shredding you to bits while you only land grazing shots on them. That's why an AC20 or 2ppc/2gauss is actually very, very good against them with good aim.

The problem is not at long range. HSR is fairly good at accelerating projectiles at those distances. It's when you have projectiles that travel further than your target relative to projectile speed vs your ping that it becomes an issue. In my case, I usually have 300 ping to NA. Using a 1.5km/s C-ERPPC, aiming at anything closer than around a quarter of the ping time * velocity (around 112.5m) actually results in the projectile sometimes being accelerated, and sometimes not. It's not as noticeable with bigger targets - the most I'd see in those is that I miss the component that I really want to hit, and end up hitting another part, like CT hits bleeding off to LT if I was using ERPPCs. Against tiny targets against the Locust, or targets that have lots of gaps in their hitboxes, like the ACH? Better hope that the acceleration works every time, or not at all.

Laundry and dishes, audio visual desynchronization, Jimmy Buffet, doppelgangers, windshield wipers that don't, advertisers, Tornado Shanks, sleeves that don't stay where I put them, alcohol, terrain that eats my legs for no good reason, moving on ice, my non-dominant arm and hand, disconnects, Bishop (because he usually posts what I wanted to say but better and faster), aquatic apex predators, the man, out of tune B strings, touch screens, whoever took my Happy Cake Oven, Grape Nuts, PWE, name retention, sports games that can't track statistics accurately, automatic updates, flossing, farts in public, pants when I'm sleeping, science...

oh, and of course Marco that freakin mailbox head.

Erm, Locusts and Cheetos have a tendency to evaporate from one shot from LB40X, which is saying something. I've tested it in game, hell, it was my go-to Medium of choice for flanker removal before I sold it to make room for other mechs.

He locked away my Scorpion in his own personal secret circus.

But i will find it.
I'm currently accepting donations for Karate lessons to help me achieve my goal.

Locusts I will believe if you're using 4x LB10X on a DWF or similar, but you said that you put 2x LB20X on a HBK IIC. LB20X has *horrid* spread (iirc, 6.5m at 100m - and a whole Locust is more or less about that wide post-rescale), so unless the mechs in question were directly in front of you at point blank range, I find that extremely unlikely. But ACH in one shot by LB40X of either combination? Not if properly armoured. It's got 14 hp on struct, and with 25/3 armor distribution you've got 39 hp to break down from the front. At best you'd take out a ST, and that's with the very generous assumption that the majority of pellets hit a single component AND you get some good crits. An instant kill CT is a literal impossibility; it has 20 hp, and with 37/3 armor distribution, that's 57 hp you have to burn through.

I won't even count rear CT/ST hits for lights, since killing a light that has its back to you means that it's goofed up really, really badly. A light that's fleeing from you with its back to you is a light you should be able to nail with hitscan lasers of any duration.

Anyway, we're being sidetracked. You have your preferences, I have mine. And maybe next time I see you on the field, I can put that light-melting machine to the test with a kitfox.

Bandwidth hogs thinking they need to stream HD video all day and all night, with a runner up of...

Special snowflake players. There's a small essay possible for all their various features, but I'll just skip it before it turns into a massive shitpost. You know them, you know what they do. You know their tall tales, dubious drop lead abilities and overall questionable piloting skills and life decisions. No need for me to go further into it, odds are you'll have one trying to recruit you, thinking (and desperately hoping) you're worse than them, so they have something to inflate their ego with.

If you don't know them... you will. Oh... you willlllll... Posted Image

I have a second arch enemy, more feared than my first

Alt tabbing during a loading screen

It makes the next match play at like 12 fps for the next 3-5 minutes rather than the normal 40-60 I'm accustomed to
