Right, so i kept shooting at a Mad IIC, armed with 3x UAC5, with me using 4x SRM4 + 2x UAC5s Ebon Jaguard, but it doesn't die.

It's also really badly damaged when i engaged it -- of course i'm cored too, but i had a lot more hits to him.

Does Mad IIC really have great hitboxes, is it even OP?

It's got great frontal hitboxes that causes most things to spread just by wobbling it's ct a little. Heck, even it's arms catch 11 and 1 o clock direction shots easily. Spread weapons like the srm are a nightmare against it in a face tank situation. From the side tho, all the dmg into 1 st EASY

Try to aim for the middle of the cockpit, especially if it shuts down. The cockpit is big enough to be cored with a decent alpha.

The marauder IIC is nearly identical to the standard Marauder in that if you are being fired upon from dead center, you can twist your nose to the left or right 30 degrees to let the damage fall where you want it. It's pretty forgiving in that regard. It also has an 85 ton assault structure value, on top of its armor, so it's pretty tough.

Edit - I notice you're using SRM 4 launchers. If they don't have artemis, the spread on those is pretty wide after the last round of nerfs to them. You can be shooting dead center of an intended area at a moderate range and two of those missiles WILL fly wide for an arm or leg every time.

I find that if they dead side you it isn't uncommon to hit the missing arm part so it lowers damage ridiculously. That being said I tend to aim for the tip of the IIC front silhouette to make sure I damage the CT.

I hate the the mad IIC, i personally believe it is OP, but thats all im going to say about it.

What is happening is that majority of your damage is being soaked up by the already destroyed left or right torso.
thus requiring significant firepower to finally core the CT. In most brawls it is very difficult to keep your damage on the ct of the IIC thus your damage out put is greatly reduced as it is spread and mitigated around the mech.

(try to avoid sending damage into the destroyed side torsos, they are black holes)

your best chance against the MadIIc is to engage at a distance and try and keep your shots ct focused or rear ct focused.
not what a lot of us want to hear, but going toe to toe with a madiic even one with a side torso down, is usually a bad idea as it can still put out significant damage . while still tanking a large volume of incoming fire power.

your other option is to work on its legs. in some situations this may be the preferable and over all best strategy.

yet there is also one other strategy that is just as slimy, its called let some one else deal with it. while this may be quite costly to your team. it does let you have better brawls, and if in the end you end up facing it, hopefully by then it will be just a shell, and a couple of alphas maybe 3, ok maybe 5, ... or possibly 6, ok ok 7 should do it .... yeah, hopefully you'll be able to take it down.

Shouldn't have made a difference for the OP's build but the Mad IIc also has a dead zone (or at least it did) on either side of the cockpit "bubble". In Bandito's image the line passing through the middle of the arrows is about where the dead zone is (was). No idea if it is still there, but when it originally came out we tested the hit boxes and you could shoot those two areas (each side of the bubble at its base along its front to back length, corresponding to the bottom of the two side windows and a bit more) and not register any damage. It was a skinny "line" along the length of the bubble, and we could only consistently "hit" it with lasers, but it was there and it is a dead zone. Reported it but never heard anything so no idea if it has been fixed. Just something to keep in mind.

Does Mad IIC really have great hitboxes, is it even OP?

I find myself playing MADIIC almost exclusively since its release (logged some 700 matches with it) and let me tell you ...

...

brace for MADIIC-fanboy-flaming

...

...

I found the same thing (surprise!)

Enemies aim at my torso, my legs take the hit.
Enemies aim at my torso, my tiny, low-slng arms take the hit.

Everyone aims for the MADIIC Torso, but I lose an arm first very often.
As I have most of my firepower in the torso and the arm weapons just as a boost and to fend off lights, I hardly care about one arm.

When I switched from my beloved (i know: somewhat squishy) WHK to the MADIIC, I felt like it could take twice the damage before going down.
In one of the first ~20 or so matches, one enemy openly flamed in global chat that "this thing didn't die".

The hitboxes feel almost comparable to a SCR (whose imbalance I can confirm from both perspectives, as well).
You shoot it. You shoot it some more. And again. And it just won't die.

Okay. Uhm. That being said ... uhm... "Lol no, learn2play, noob, MADIIC is fine."

(not that PGI gets the idea of fixing it, you know Posted Image)

The MAD IIC is one of the best, if not the best assault mech. It's an amazing tank, it's wicked fast, and it can carry ECM. Hit boxes are good too. You wouldn't think those little arms could soak up damage, but they do. It's one of the few mechs I hate to run into in my brawlers. They take forever to kill and I can't run circles around them like I would an Atlas or a KDK-3. When the engine decoupling comes, I hope the MAD IIC gets hit the hardest. It's just too good as is.

Same thing with the IS Marauder: it can tank damage with arms and legs, and you spread torso damage by simply looking at the enemy and wiggling your nose.

Warhawk has significant side torso durability quirks, yet compared to MADIIC feels like glass.

Even when fighting a Kodiak, you can concentrate damage on a ST from almost any angle and he goes down quicker than a MADIIC.

When I tested my habitual MADIIC build on PTS, the new skill tree gave it more agility, less heat, more dps and some side features like radar deprivation on the way to skill seismic.

It's not the Skill Tree final version, but that was the experience.

Another reason to hate that piss poor attempt at a "skill tree". More like a skill web of deceit, lies, and additional grind.

Great advice.... especially when they're hill humping using shoulder-ballistics.

No way in hell should PGI give the same amount of skill nodes to all the mechs. That will only make the best mechs even stronger.

This thread is about MADIIC, you're just derailing it on purpose.

What is more, when ACH or SCR decides to ridge hump using relatively low mounted weapons, you get no chance of leg shots.
