Micro Pulse Lasers are going to be an interesting addition to the Clan arsenal. At first glance, the lack of range and damage seems pretty terrible, but they will have a quick cooldown and are very light weight. In mass, I think these things could be devastating.
I'm imagining either the viper or nova as the prime candidates for these babies. With the medusa omnis, the viper can carry 11 micro pulses (w/ 3 extra tons), while the nova could carry 14 (w/ 8.5 extra tons). I think the viper will have a better time using them thanks to its speed and mobility, but if the nova can get into range, a 42 alpha on a quick cooldown will wreck any mech in short order. What are your guys' thoughts on the micro lasers? Will they be niche and rarely used, or brutal can openers?
PS- I think micros will also be nice ways to fill extra energy hard points on assaults like the gargoyle, executioner, dire wolf, and kodiak.

I think the NVA could really make use of them if they can position themselves well for an ambush. VPR will have a much better time as well, since these should have god-tier DPS/DPH on an already heatsink-starved mech with good enough speed to close the gap.
In any event, it'll be a definitely good backup weapon for heavy-weapons kitfoxes. 1 ERPPC, ECM, and 6 Micros will let it do good damage at close range and be an annoying little poker at mid-long. Most of the lights would benefit too, actually. ACH comes to mind as well.

I'm hoping ghost heat limits don't hit them too hard and that they have shorter durations than small pulse lasers. Could be pretty nice.

Can get 15 on the Nova... oh yes, much pewpew.
Micro lasers will be good for mechs that have the space but not the tonnage.
Similarly, heavy lasers will be good for mechs that don't have the space but have the tonnage.
The additional options are going to be fun.

Micro Pulse lasers are not for the weak of heart. Short range in general.

I agree. I more fear the MRMs than Microlaser. The possibility to shoot a 160 point alpha is crazy enough

That being said, torpedo boat incoming in the form of ATM lights.
Incoming ATM 24 kitfox! Now with HE warheads at point blank, shoving 72 damage up your rear CTs

Oh right, I had forgotten about the Breaker's 2E side torso. 15 micro pulse lasers w/ 8 tons left for DHS/TC. You'll need balls of steel and lady luck on your side, but this point blank build is going to be terrifying.

I doubt the micros will have any ghost heat at all. They're in a smaller weapon class than the IS light lasers and those don't have ghost heat penalties. There's just no need when a weapon only does 2-3 damage per shot.
