The skill tree system was hyped for release in what early march? I remember I had people in february telling that I was an idiot to buy certain mechs (or multiple of the same mech etc), was told other things were a massive waste of time with the skill tree incoming and should be ignored, and that selling those excess mechs was all you could and should do with the skill tree update so close to being put out.

Not to mention the hanging question of quirks, the notion of refunded points for the older skills systems and the meta changes many people were prepping with this very much high expectation and well defined series of events that was supposed to happen in early march.

I changed up my entire set of mechs and spent wild amounts of cbills and gxp on things I just wanted to experiment with before the skill tree change, personally.

Now to hear that the skill tree update is basically a non promise that faded back to a "maybe later on" addition? If you were expecting to release it by the start of march and were delayed by the whole month for that, that does not fill me with confidence for the release date with such a "meh" attitude toward it. So what will we maybe see this update in 6 months now? in 2018 or 19 maybe? Or is it just a lol, whoops moment that we should forget about now?

Feeling a little like a kid excited for christmas getting a lump of coal and a slap in the face from santa.

Its implementation still needed changes, some greater than others, depending on your opinions of the overall effort.

I do hope it is released in an improved form, with a better thought out launch strategy.

Fingers crossed for April.

Yeah because people who just read news and play the game without screaming bloody murder at every change, don't yell those opinions at devs Posted Image

Sometimes I wish I was more proactive in expressing my enjoyment, but having fun and then breaking down in a forum post why I am having fun, seems like a self destructive process lol.

Well, I will take the time now to say, that the skill tree changes excited me hugely and I have played much more than usual under the expectation of seeing them soon (like 2 weeks ago), I would have loved to see it go live and am now a little depressed about not only its position and fate, but the fate of all the seemingly lackluster mechs that were waiting for it or made with it in mind.

I feel ya. My Grasshopper is still waiting alone, and basiced, for the new skill tree. I wouldn't mind it being released on march, but there would have been Katrina level shitstorm in the forums if that had happened. It is better to further tweak it, although me and many others had repeatedly begged PGI not to scrap the new skill tree like the previous Energy Draw, and Info Warfare.

If the new skill tree is scrapped, I would be very upset at the community.

No, in March LAST YEAR we were told it would be released at MechCon.

But PGI mostly worked on MW5 last year.

Yep I thought that warfare change was a bit off the first time I saw it, but I get why they would extend it to all weapon types over the potential for min maxing, specifically in regards to damage dealing potential, as with clan mechs and new weapons in mind, damage rates are already humongous.

I would really like to see the quirk system stay too (and I quite like the idea that warfare will be generalised, but quirks will still potentially be specialised) but with a skill tree in mind many quirks would need to be rebalanced (as the devs have discussed).

Hope they work harder on it.
If the AI of our beloved potatoe overlord VIP atlas is indicating what MW5 is gonna be like i'd say ggclose.

I'm usually with you Bish but this is bollocks, the skill tree was about to screw over a bunch of paying players, who, like me, cancelled their pre-orders. That's what made them change their minds, they don't listen to players, the don't listen to the forums, they listen to their wallets.

Good point, likely a lot of truth there,

P.S. I'm all for a skill tree and there were several points about this implementation that were poor but what got me to cancel those pre-orders was the ridiculous costs they were proposing that would screw over a load of players.

That atlas is tier 10. My God is a bloody idiot. It has serious suicidal tendencies. Head on into the fray.

I thought the ST was A GO

Some guy called cazidin posted some stuff

Also who in the world wanted a change to the skill system anyways
Would'nt that be considered crying?

I know I could think of other things they could work on like enhanced imaging

I think we have reduced things to a point to we can't tell who was crying first
We have a good game here let's not ruin it

It's called "asset flip".
No hating, that was my honest impression from the trailer.

definitely you should be thanking us... it was a dumpster fire on implementation!!!!! The skill maze was between InfoWar which was just horrifically rolled out in the PTS being poorly explanation and too much being stacked together & Energy Draw which had serious fundamental problems that just needed to be forgotten. So it not going live is only a good thing... they bring it back after reworking it in 2 months and I will be happy to go test the new iteration & I hope it is a good system that does not nerf IS while buffing Clan mechs thereby even further widening the imbalance that currently exists.

My favourite whine was: "Bwaaah I must buy "useless" nodes to get the ones I want baaawaaha waaaah". Geez...

There were/are problematic aspects in the skill tree. However, some of the whining was simply blanket whining. And that was the problem.
