Sale Endts: March 28th 10 PM PST

Did this sale end early? Says it ends at 10pm PST on March 28th?

If I'm not mistaken, it's only 2pm PST right now, I just finished grinding c-bills for a mech, only to see the price is back to normal. I was going to try and grind some more real quick for another mech before time is up, which was going to require me buy MC for the mech bay, but I guess not. I'll level what I've got and wait for the next sale.

Another genius business move by PGI...

They corrected their end time on the announcement from 10pm to 10am PST after the sale had ended. The UTC times DoD not change, and were apparently correct throughout.

the cooldown quirk basically doubles the firepower of the mounted laser. but an ach can mout two erll easily and still fight after losing a side torso.

It's not equitable. The Spider also has a 25% duration quirk, which means its laser blast is 0.94 seconds to the 1.5 seconds on the ACH. The total exposure time to fire once with the ACH is more than the time to fire twice with the SDR-5K and, crucially, the ACH doesn't have the MGs for knife-work during the late game.

Lights also don't 1v1 other Lights if they can avoid it. Win or lose, the cost is too high.

someone said he would prefer an locust 1V to the pirates bane? why the heck would anyone do that?

Range, rate of fire. The 1V is preferable to the PB at long ranges because of that, and at mid- and short-ranges the 1E and 3M, and even the 3S (for short) are preferable because they carry more guns. Actually, I'd even rather have an LCT-1M at short range.

ah now i see. should have watched all the quirks instead of just the cooldown one. spider has structure bonuses too, compaired to the cheetah or am i wrong?

the locust part makes sense now, thx Yeonne.

The sales ending sooner than was supposed to wasn't so great.

It didnd't hurt me though I got plenty new mechs and even sold a few already, and I checked the time ingame.

Yeah, +10 structure to every part save the head. Also has significant agility quirks (60% accel, 20% turn) that allow it to twitch and juke shots better than a Cheetah.

If you are harassing at range, you want the Spider. If you need a Light to patrol for ganks, you probably want the Arctic Cheetah or, maybe, a Locust 3M/1E.

How many years have you had more weapons and better engines? ... yeah...
the weapons arnt that much better, you have mechs that because of quicksilver can hit just as far and do a reasonable ammount of damage. 2nd hello, clan tech.. it's suposed to be better. We pay for that through the cost of buying and building the Mech. Take into consideration that you can buy all 3 urbies for the price of 1 med clan mech. Hell some of our light cost as much as all 3... so yeah...

1.) They don't typically reach quite as far for a given amount of damage, and it's not all about the firepower anyway

2.) Once you've thrown all the requisite upgrades onto an IS 'Mech, it costs about the same as a Clan 'Mech. Even if Clan stuff was actually more expensive, that would be a one-time cost you pay for perpetual advantage. Yeah, no.

3.) Shove your lore, this is an equal-teams competitive multiplayer game. You want lore, wait for MechWarrior 5 and its included PvE campaign. Multiplayer in any MechWarrior game has never been about lore.

My favorite mode in MW4 was Multiplayer NHUA... In fact I think that was what most players preferred for multiplayer non-tourney shenanigans...

... pretty sure *that* wasn't lore... It would be fun if they allowed NHUA in the MWO Private Lobbies or have another queue where you could drop in QP for NHUA with no XP/CBill rewards... just for lulz...

On topic 3) maybe if you kept the clan mech stock yes. But after we put in the proper mods on a med clan mech it's as much as your assalts... so yeah...

No. You think that IS Assault is staying stock? Hell no, it's got its own XL engines, EndoSteel, weapons, modules and such to invest in.

Here's the Hunchback 4P versus Hunchback IIC-A. The Clan build is the meta build. The IS build is the closest approximation. The IS build costs 11.4 million, the Clan build costs 8.6 million. Modules costs are the same for both sides.

The IS 'Mech has no extra splash damage from its PPCs, no targeting computer to give its PPCs extra velocity, no jump jets, and no survivable XL engine (if I swap in a STD 250, now I have less heatsinks and less running speed all just to stay a mere 200,000 cheaper and not die when one side goes).

So that there is a less capable 'Mech for more money. The Clan 'Mech costs less than half of what it takes to buy and properly outfit a Battlemaster. A stock Battlemaster costs just over 7 million, so both fully outfitted Hunchbacks cost more than that.

Your argument is 100% invalid.

first off why in oden's name would you do that to a 4p. Secondly that 2c is a one Trick pony. If you get in close it won't have the staying power for a brawl. Third, with the first point, the IS hunchback has perks for days to structure why would you NOT set that up to brawl? You're intentional butchering of that much to try to prove your logic is astoundingly disheartening.

As far as cost goes, all you pay for is pre installed XL/endo/ferro/DHS. Take an IS mech and upgrade it with an XL/endo/ferro/DHS and all of a sudden the cost difference isn't there anymore.

for an omni mech I can see you're argument, he'll without looking at the numbers right now I'd even agree with you. But roll that over to clan Battlemechs and you have the same problem but way more expensive...

Away from my comp so i can't check but i think clann IIc mech costs are on par with IS...

Heck they are even cheaper than clan omnis in their mech packs...

I said IIc mechs... Is Kodiak a IIc mech? Posted Image

But still... lets do some math (now that I *AM* in front of my computer:
KGC 0000 sells for 9.7 mill with no DHS/FF/END upgrades and a STD300 and 2x AC20 being the big weapons expense @600k each.

KDK 3 sells for 16 mil with FF/DHS and XL400 and 2 LBX20 @ 1.2Mill each...

Take principle weapons off both:
KGC -> 8.5 million
KDK -> 13.6 million

Take away KDK's DHS and FF upgrades (1.5 Million + .5 Million)
KGC -> 8.5 Million
KDK -> 11.6 Million

Take away engines (STD300 @ 1.8 Mil vs XL400 @ 6.5 Mil)
KGC = 6.3 Million
KDK = 5.1 Million

So not looking at any other aspects they are pretty dang close, when looking at CB costs...

And before anyone says it, IS XL engines have the EXACT same pricing scale.

Here's a light comparison

ACH - A @ 7mill vs Spider 5K @ 2.5 Mill

Add DHS/FF/END to the 5K (1.9 Million)
SPD 5K -> 4.4 Million
ACH-A -> 7 Million

Swap the 5K's STD for an XL240 (4 million - 1.5 million = 2.5 million)
SPD 5K -> 6.9 Million
ACH-A -> 7 Million

So as many many many others have stated, the UPFRONT cost of clan mechs is often higher, but the end value after comparable upgrades is nearly the same.

These are examples. While I have not done an exhaustive cost analysis of *every single freaking mech* I am reasonably comfortable that you will not find many circumstances where there will be an overall cost disparity.
