PGI -

Thank you for the event, the free goodies and mech that came with it, and thanks for this sale. It's greatly appreciated. I sincerely hope some of the newer players are able to jump on these deals.

I did too. Well, 2 days back. In theory we could write an Email to support begging for a discount but I can't quite do it. I already scored the free Banshee, MC, Cbills, and 3 days of Premium time that I abused for as many hours as I could. Over the discount cost of one mech, I'm kinda really okay with it as it is.

It doesn't bother me much, I just thought it was funny. I'll just buy something else while this sale is going.

They will hopefully balance the current "meta" Mechs to one level with the other ones, and even if I buy one of them now, it will be very much appreciated.

Battlemaster has quirks, Night gyr can pop better ( all depends on what builds you want to run )

Mhm...
Well then...
What about Night Gyr vs. Kodiak?
I won't ask if the Kodiak is better than a Direwhale (it surely is), but if one can buy only one variant of only one Mech total, KDK-3 or some sort of NTG (which one then)?

My new Splat Huntsman is working out surprisingly well in Scouting.

thanks for that PGI, if we have to pay less for a few mechs that allways helps.

but the spider? competitive? this is a joke, and a bad one at that. dont understand me wrong, i love my spiders and i still play them regularly but they are nowhere near competitive. most of what they can do is made better by locusts and they are 10t lighter. 6mg or the restoraton of the mg fire rate quirks o the 5k would be at least worth a laugh, but so? nope. just nope. hopefully newer players wating to buy some mechs have allready enough experiance to pass on the spiders and the other rather ****** mechs.

There are some nice mechs for sale. Looks like I will burn up my remaining cbills before Marauder IIC will come available for cbills, I might have brought it for full price but I doubt I have any left after this sale.

I think I will have to roll a dice about Arctic cheetah. It's good, but I've tried laser vomit Jenner IICs and Im just not good enough shot with close range weapons.

Unless you have some other speficic goals like FP, I think when you are cbill limited Night Gyr is better than Kodiak, as you can have several good loadouts and do like dakka and gauss and even bit lasers, just by buying new omnipods. With Kodiak you are kinda stuck with one variant and mainly one loadout ,specially if you don't have big enough STD engine to do 4x gauss. Even downgrading the engine a bit on Kodiak is expensive, unless you already have smaller XL.

Due to different speeds Night Gyr is more to an assult where as Timber Wolf you previously asked is, well it still is a heavy but rather fast heavy with less firepower due to it.

Thanks!
The thing is, neither of them have a high enough priority for me to start farming CBs for a second Mech before sale ends. But I'd like to use the sale for trying some of the OP Clan things everyone has been speaking about.
I wouldn't bother about the engines (I can buy some later, use those prom my MAD-IIC or whatever), and for the Kodiaks, people are saying there is only one good variant anyway.
As for choosing the NTG, which variant than?

Or should I buy neither of them and take a Huntsman or Battlemaster instead? ^^
(Not really, I guess, already having Novas and Stalkers.)

Wait what? Kodiaks 3 have several loadouts thats either good or really good. I need atleast 1 more Kodiaks myself, since I only have 2. But I should probably have one with the 4 gauss aswell, so likely need 2 more.

2ERPPC/2Gauss
2UAC10/2UAC5
4LBX10/4SPL
4Gauss

There are also atleast one more build that have seen competitive play if I remember correct.

Gyr-D has energy CT, rest you can build with omnipods.

Alt Kodiak build,

2 * UAC10 + 2 * LBX10, with or without small lasers

i like the sale, but this just tells me what mechs are on the PGI nerf list, (besides the warhawk and stalker) so this makes me feel uneasy. Heck, i bet a few months ago my Jagermechs would have been one of those mechs.

If you like to jump snipe get the Gyr, if you do not get the KDK.

Its hard to nerf good hardpoints, Jagermechs have not been "good" for a few years.

Bought a third Night Gyr and mastered my other two Gyrs. I know that the rule will go there u need three variants to master mechs but I want 3 different loadouts for my Gyrs.

Tomorrow I have enough c-bills for a second Kodiak-3 for meta whoring. :D

Wait. What?

You can Dakka or PPFLD (Gauss/cERPPC) on a KDK3 to better effect than a Gyr - the latter being the best loadout in the game right now for ranged combat as the KDK3 has biggest pointpoint alpha @ 800m+ in the game (with insanely high mounts, I know the Mad IIC can do it also). You can run a XL380+ and crank out far more DPS than a Gyr while basically moving the same speed.

All of that with 25T more of armour. It just doesn't have JJ, so tad less mobile.

Me thinks better mech research required. Both are excellent choices in their own right.

The Kodiak consumes 33% more tonnage than the Night Gyr in your Faction play Dropdeck. That's the primary Balancing factor. The second being the Gyr's ability to jump at the expense of other equipment.
