For the mechs that I only have a mild interest in, yeah. One Viper C is good enough. I probably feel the same way about the Linebacker. Right now I'm just going to save a fat wad of Cbills for the eventual technology drop. Getting caught dead broke when Fusion Engines drop... no thanks.

No. Skill tree has convinced me stop buying buying any more 'Mechs for C-Bills full stop. Maybe when I've ground more XP and C-Bills on my existing 'Mechs.

No, at the moment I am still saving my C-Bills to buy my third Mauler variant (bought the second a few weeks ago) in order to master that mech.
Nevertheless, I'd like to have some more clarification by PGI about the future of Skill Tree so that I can plan how to spend my C-Bills: I stopped buying modules and I'd like to understand if I can limit my spending to some variants for some mechs.

I've stopped as well, though to be fair I hadn't really followed it for a while. Would buy a mech, try it out, if I like it, keep it, put it on a list to eventually buy two more of. Now? Not an issue with the rule of three soon to be dead. In fact picked up the Battlemaster 2C specifically due to this, and boy do I not regret picking up the 2C, very sweet machine.

I've stopped buying mechs in general.

I just can't be bothered to grind the xp.
The skilltree won't change it.

If it was up to me, there wouldn't be any "skills progression systems" at all.
Just unnecessary grind-mechanics that do nothing but widen the gap between newer players and older ones (which in turn drives all the new players away from the game and makes the already HORRIBLE new player experience even worse).

I also got a full-time job, so i don't really have the time to play the game, except on weekends.

Grasshopper-5P, and one another mech. Thinking of buying a single Cheetah as well.

I never even started buying 3 variants. Most of my mechs are only basic'd because **** having to buy 2 mechs I don't want to play. The only mechs I have 3 variants of are from the packs I bought, and even then when I'm done with all three, I sell the two that I don't need.

Mostly yes and but maybe not.... it depends on how long ST is delayed for.

Currently grinding for cbills and xp on existing mechs..

I just bought (and sold after basics) the Spider 5V to finish off that chassis. Still have the Urbie and Wolfhound to go before another Light or the Skill Tree drops. Hopefully I get the MC for another mech bay here soon, as I've only got one free and need to buy 6 more mechs.

I just want my gold wings for one weight category, that's all. Then I can quit.

Nope. Just bought three Huntsman. Plan on keeping all three, they all run different builds. In fact, I keep most of my mechs. I hate rebuilding mechs, I like having one dedicated mech per build. I have five Timbers now I think, lol.

I relented and bought 3 Linebackers, mostly because I wanted the Redline Hero.

Ironically, I have discovered that the best loadout by far is the one I ran on the single Prime I already had. So it turned out to be a bad decision to buy more of them.

Having said that, Linebacker is a fun Mech, so I'm fine grinding 3 of them.

I've stopped doing that a loooong time ago.. when they first nerfed the skills, it became pointless to invest in two additional mechs for minor bonuses... 2% on this and 5% on that.. yeah, no.. rather buy a different chassis..

In fact, there's a bigger chance I'll buy more of the same chassis when the Skill Tree is implemented, since respec will cost a leg and an arm..

Heh. I have 8 Battlemasters, mostly due to loadouts that I keep for different FP maps.

But if I ever get hard up for CBills, and the new Skill Tree contains nothing very different per variant, I'll just sell Mechs. I'd say 75% of my 250 Mechs have no compelling reason to be kept.

100% guarantee the new skill tree is the same for all mechs in the game. It's too much work for PGI to design and keep track of over 500 unique skill trees. Presently there are slightly numerical differences between IS and Clan, and between the four different weight classes. That is as far as they are going.

Not really. I've stopped buying anything for real money until PGI gets their shi7 together, but as for c-bill purchases, I'd buy something (or three of something) if there were something that I thought was worth buying -skill tree or not.

Problem is, that I have always played IS exclusively, so now I am just waiting for the skills tree to see which will be viable after the great nerfing that is still planned for the skill tree roll out (as far as I can tell from PGI's super extensive communications on this, the nerfs are still a go). Those that are turned to trash (which appears to be many of them), I will liquidate, and then buy some meta clan mechs that don't need quirks to be viable. That is apparently PGI's idea of increasing mech and build diversity...who am I to argue? So planning on going with the flow of all meta clan, all the time, but those purchases will be with c-bills alone.

If the skills tree if perpetually in a state of "soon" then I will keep pokemeching in sets of three for the rest of the IS mechs.

Depends on the 'mech. I'm not spending 30m C-Bills on mastering a Kodiak or Timber Wolf, but I did buy 3 Grasshoppers when they were on sale, and picked up 3 Hunchback IICs just because I liked them that much that I didn't want to wait.

I don't see myself getting any more 'mechs for a while though, I'm currently spending all my play time on mastering any not yet mastered chassis, and putting all my C-Bills into the Light Fusion Engine Fund. That leaves no time or C-Bills for the next pokemech project.

I have not and will when I actually see the Skill Tree in game. Outside of that there is only one mech I might buy several of the same variant but no others and that being easy mode Kodiak 3.

Not yet. Of course I'm only buying pack mechs right now. Planning on 3 SNV/BSW for CB since I am skeptical we'll have ST by then. Like Yoda said, "when see I do, believe it I shall." ;)

I have also.

25 odd spare mechbays and almost 300 MIL cbills. Just waiting to see what happens. So likely 400MIL once it comes in. Plans half my mechs are all module equipped.

So I think those machines gonna get filled instantly. No point buying crap variants of certain mechs (IS specially). So yeah, and and see how badly Skill Tree stuffs it all. I'll likely wait at least 6 weeks post skill tree too, given PGIs history of poor updates.
