suggestion, at least make the mechs, sound etc each his own data zip or something so one do not need to download 16.000 files easy as pie.

Checked just now one of the older versions (0.5.4.1), prior to the big data packaging upgrade, and they had 223.5k files distributed over 38.8k folders.
Compared to that, MWO's test client's numbers are just fine.

Most of these guys have no clue what they are talking about in the first place. They are just feeling a certain type of way and make a thread about it.

I know enough it literally takes 6 Hours to get mech warriors up to date with the current patch system.
how do you think most new people will think about that?.

maybe if you stop wasting time making condescending threads deciding who deserves an acorn award, maybe you should spend your time finding a solution

You Sir have an uncanny ability to describe yourself whilst complaining about others.

already stated a "solution" unlike your self.
the game patch each patch individual which really make updating time consuming. (for it first download a ZIP then unpack the zip) if they wan't to have efficient download they should put their data in a 1GB structure file system your harddrive will love it also less seeking time.
State of the art PC, with reasonable ISP. 40Mbps download 4Mbps upload. and 20 MB's a second writing speed on hard disk so blame it on MWO not my PC.

6 hours?!
Might be time to step up from that 56K modem...
Average update unless you're several iterations behind is around 20 minutes.

I noticed and in a few other threads, you have an un-healthy obsession with me Festus. I am flattered, but trust me, tone it down before somebody(you) gets embarrassed. It's not my fault some people like myself can evaluate and make sense of things better than you. You get no apologies.
Well, thats not so much fun anymore. Stop stalking me on the forums festus and get a life. Same to the others that like that blatant troll post

I don' t think and at least for me the patching has been any better or worse than other games I play. It may be that it's just relative to a person

They are now comlpex databases, graphics, special libraries, 3rd party libraries, underlying infrastructure, and garbedly gooky human readable xml, lua, python and god knows what else . not to mention my favorite. game files, within game files, within game files !!
Then you have the the actual game the developers made from all this.
so no we dont get simple patches anymore. because games are not simple anymore.

humans normally forget the amount of processes the network is already doing and at an incredibly fast rate. The speeds don't actually increase or decrease. We just develop better technologies to be able to make the movement of data more efficient.
