The IP method was using a point system (BV). If costed appropriately with statistical aid (no, the TT wasn't costed properly outside of some stock battles, but MWO being online and easily reviseable and having easy access to statistics could do this a lot better) it solves EVERYTHING, allowing tech bases and low/high/experimental tech weapons as well as the vast variety of weapons to keep their character while still allowing for a balanced game. An expression of this is the clan v IS 5v12 matchup mystere dreams for since the bv for this stock lines up fairly (depending on the picks of course). MWO does an extremely simple version (thus really flawed) in FW by using tonnage limits.
