Erased.
But yea, this was definitely a surprise. I thought that the comp Scene was already working with PGI about events and stuff, but it will be interesting to hear what is said.

I hurt you, I know. I rather not wound you again if I can avoid it.
As for the comp scene round table. I think the turnout for this one might be a bit low. Sort of a Exclusive group of players, who everyone else worships.

Russ did say on Twitter back in February that there would be a Competitive Round Table, but no, the competitive scene hasn't really been working that closely with PGI. I think BanditB17 and MDMZer0 are, by themselves, the primary interface between the two.
I will definitely attend. Serious questions need to be asked, especially about balance because the competitive game gets boring when there's one clear choice without considerable constraints in the rules.

Apparently they're releasing an interview with the Balance Underling shortly (Chris)

Whilst I applaud PGI for doing something with the community I really wish they would stop diluting their already limited time and energy and putting it into improving aspects of the game that 95% of the community can actually be involved with.
Maps
Modes
Balance (overall not to bad but will always need work)
Fixing FP (the so called end game content) into something that everyone can play.
Adding/fixing the above will get more people spending more money than the elite few that have the skills/time/money can ever hope to spend.
If you want to help the elite few, great go ahead, but don't do it at the expense of the rest of the player base who simply wont care. (me included)

Worship? More like could care less about.
I just hope PGI doesn't waste more time and money chasing the esport dream that doesn't benefit me as a player or them as a company when there are several things that they could focus on that would improve the game that most of us play.

Yep, I am.
What do I think?
Having a round table about comp when the last two FP round tables have been not a lot more than a stage show?
That said given how bad the MWO OC was run/organised/communicated, I'm not surprised this has actually come about. It was so badly organised even we struggled to stick it out until the end. When you have over a 50% drop out rate across 100 or so teams, at some point, you gotta admit you ****** up. Just like Skill Tree, Info Wars, Energy Draw, FP3 / FP4.1... The list in the last 12 months is, astonishing really.
I don't want to be overly critical of PGI, but it's just bad step after bad step. I just don't understand how it's getting so wrong, each time either.

IS XL - The single biggest / prolific issue, totally ignored.
Clan Potart/PPFLD - The second, also ignored.
Yet you look at the balancing that goes on and, well, it doesn't make any logical sense. I still fail to understand the UAC nerf, it's broken the weapon.

What we need is people with the patience to let Russ finish his round-about rambling explanations and effectively get through to him not just what but WHY some things need to change.
That would be the most useful.

rudeness has no bearing on whether the person's points make sense. address the point, not the person. if russ gets his #safespace violated and starts banning players, it bodes ill for the future of MWO.
sensitive people should not run companies.

Before all the 'safezone' stuff came about in this generation. We were taught to be polite. Maybe that's just too old fashion in this day and age. But if you expect Russ to be professional, then why shouldn't he expect the same from people who claim to care about the game? Act like a jerk, get treated like jerk. Lose whatever point you were trying to make.

They should work on having better items and bonuses for purchasing the benefit swag that they sell to pay for the event and boost the payout.
On listening to Comp players on balance issues I feel it is a mixed bag. On one hand you have very knowledgeable players who see the issues at the top of the tiers and game play. On the other hand you only get information on the TOP of the pile and not at the lower portions where the 90% of the rest of us land. You can't always balance from the top down just like you can't from the bottom up.
I personally think that LRMs could use a little boost in speed and height maybe at the cost of a little more spread. However someone in Tier 5-3 might think that is a terrible idea and would ruin their game experience. It is a challenge to balance everything for everyone and filter in what is a good game change for the most people.
